In case you've never seen a jackal, they're a group of medium-sized carnivorous mammals belonging to the Canidae family, which includes dogs, wolves, and foxes.

And fox rescue Mikayla Raines just rescued a cute jackal that couldn't be happier, as she captured in a video on October 7. Let's take a look!

Aw, he's just like a dog and so happy to see her, despite his friendly nip on the finger.

He's quite vocal, too!

The goal of wildlife rehabilitation is to prepare the animal for a return to its natural habitat, eventually.

However, in cases where animals are rescued from fur farms or other inhumane conditions, like this jackal, the goal is to help these foxes and jackals recover, spay, and neuter, as well as find a good home for them.

Mikayla's non-profit Save a Fox helps rescue foxes and jackals from fur farms, as well as from breeders who surrender them because they thought they wouldn't make it.

Mikayla and her husband give these foxes and jackals tons of love, attention, and care to prepare them for their next journey.

Aside from nurturing the animal back to health, Mikayla's organization's purpose is also to educate others about the cruel fur trade foxes fall victim to.

The fur industry has been a subject of ethical and environmental concern for various reasons, due to the treatment of animals, such as foxes and jackals, in fur farming. These include issues related to animal welfare, conservation, and sustainability.

Conservation efforts for wild foxes and jackals are essential to protecting their natural habitats and populations.

Jackals play an important role in the ecosystems they inhabit, as they help control the population of small mammals and scavengers, which can have a significant impact on the health of an ecosystem.

It's so helpful to have people like Mikayla and her organization.
