Rescue Cat Goes Viral For Resembling Baby Yoda

Meet Joy AKA “Yoda Cat.”

If you ever wished you could keep Baby Yoda as a pet, you might want to book a plane ticket to North Carolina, where the Humane Society of Rowan County currently has a cat that bears a striking resemblance to the popular creature found on Disney+’s The Mandalorian.

As noted by People, the animal welfare organization recently shared information about Joy, a rescue cat whom many have nicknamed “Yoda Cat,” due to her tilted ears that gives her a very Yoda-esque look. “Joy is one of the many injured strays that our organization helps,” the Humane Society wrote in a Facebook post. “She was found by a kind lady in Kannapolis who contacted our organization for help. A member of HSRC picked up sweet Joy and brought her to one of our vets for treatment. Joy had a wound around her neck and an upper respiratory infection. She is currently receiving treatment for both. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her.”

The post noted that Joy won’t be up for adoption until she’s recovered from her ailments, but anyone wishing to help the cat can donate in order to contribute to her medical bills. “Any amount above what is needed for Joy's medical needs will go to help other injured strays like her,” the HSRC added.

Nancy Rominger, a volunteer with the HSRC, told BuzzFeed News that Joy is starting to feel better — but it’s still going to be a while before she makes a full recovery. That said, it seems as though Joy/Baby Yoda Cat will do just fine once she finds her forever home. “She's very cuddly, she's very affectionate, and she's very sweet,” Rominger said in an interview with CNN. “Her experiences have not made her into an attack cat. She seems to like people and loves being in laps. She's going to make someone a very nice pet.”

Here’s hoping Joy gets better soon — and that she has a long, healthy road of internet fame and viral memes ahead of her.
