Rescue Cat Adopted To Help with Mice Problem Doesn't Understand the Assignment

Cats are natural hunters, and they love nothing more than stalking their prey until they pounce on them and go in for the kill. Well, not all cats, because the cat posted in a video on September 3 has zero interest in hunting or killing this mouse.

He would much rather cuddle them.

In the video posted by TikTok user @Gabidaiagi, Gabi explains that her parents got a cat to help get rid of the mice. You can see how well that's going.

TikTok users are loving this modern day Tom and Jerry, and @ Sprout comments, "The mouse is like oh we’re hiding?! Hang on. I’m coming." @Heather adds, "We have the cat distribution system and apparently the cats have a mouse distribution system." @Berlys has a very sad story and replies, "My cat found a mouse and they became friends. Then my cat accidentally killed it and she was so sad." Oh no! @Crystal adds, Oh! The cat thinks you got him a friend!"

One user suggests that "Mouse probably has a parasite called toxoplasma gondii. It can eliminate their fear of cats. Still cute though." One of the most notable effects of Toxoplasma gondii infection in mice is alterations in behavior. Infected mice have been observed to exhibit reduced aversion to cat odors and even attraction to them.

Well, that may explain what's going on here!

Not all cats are natural predators. Every cat is different and if you get a cat expecting it to be a mouser, it may prove otherwise. Some cats are just laid back and well-fed enough that they would much rather play with a mouse than kill it. All we know is that it makes for a very cute video!
