Here’s How to Request TV Shows on Netflix

You have to go to a hidden page.

Ever searched for a favorite TV show or one that you’ve had on your watchlist only to find out it's not available to stream? Well you're in luck. We watched a whole lot of Netflix before we discovered this special page. In fact, it took a glitch in our account and a trip to the Help Center for us to stumble across it. On the right side of the Help Center there’s a little column of quick links, and the first one is “Request TV shows or movies.” We were intrigued and excited.

The page is exactly what it sounds like: it lets you enter up to three different TV show or movie suggestions that you’d like Netflix to offer on streaming. Which means that old movie you’ve been dying to watch—or heck, popular TV show—has been at your fingertips all along. The company will even keep you posted via email.

But not so fast: some shows are simply impossible for Netflix to carry. Every time the site wants to carry a new movie or show, it has to make a deal with the company that owns it—and sometimes that company doesn’t want to play ball. HBO, for example, is holding onto Game of Thrones very tightly. So sadly, you won’t be seeing it on Netflix any time soon (even though it’s one of the most requested shows).

And suggesting a show more than once won’t help you out. Clearly people have gotten trigger happy in the past, because the page gently tells users “If you’ve already submitted a request for a title, you can sit back and relax—we’ve received your feedback and there’s nothing more for you to do.”

So here’s your best bet—don’t make a super obvious request. Netflix would already be carrying Game of Thrones if it could. And that applies to other wildly popular TV series everyone talks about. But, that awesome 80s movie you saw once? Now we’re in business and you might just get your wish granted.
