Rep. Eric Swalwell Denies Farting on Live TV After Clip Goes Viral
California Rep. Eric Swalwell has denied farting during a live TV interview.
A loud noise was heard when Swalwell was speaking during Monday’s episode of Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC.
Today in "I can't believe this just happened" California Rep. Eric Swalwell is denying farting on TV. A sentence I never thought I'd write, but here we are! In the clip Swalwell says “Chris, so far the evidence is uncontradicted that the president used taxpayer dollars to help him cheat—” at which point the farting noise can be heard. He then finishes his sentence with a slight smile, continuing “—an election. And the complaint that I’ve heard from Republicans....”
We flipped it back several times, you can see the laugh in his eyes

For what it's worth, Hardball claims it was a cup moving across the desk, and they're using the opportunity to sell merch (classic).
Sorry to disappoint the conspiracy theorists - it was the #hardball mug scraping across the desk. Get yours today and let’s get back to the news! https://t.co/SG8Owm2IBw

And FYI, Buzzfeed reporter Addy Baird ended up texting Swalwell to get the inside story, and he wrote back “It was not me!!!!!" and “Ha. And I didn’t hear it when I was speaking.”
