Jennifer Egeberg has lived in this 509-square-foot studio apartment in Windsor, Connecticut, for four-and-a-half years. “I moved here after living in Charlottesville, Virginia, to be closer to family and for a new teaching job (first-grade teacher here!)” she begins. “I was inspired by the mountains and outdoor life while living in Virginia and spent most of my time on trails on the weekends, so nature definitely has inspired my design in this tiny place of mine.”

Tell us a little about your home: This little studio doesn’t feel small with the high ceilings and big windows that let in a ton of natural light all day. I’ve seen a lot of tragedy and joyful moments in this place, and through it all it has remained a haven of peace and relaxation for myself and for my friends and family who love to visit.

My identity is reflected through my natural and neutral color choices (white, black, gold, yellow, blue) and through my personalized photos throughout my space. I try to pull things that add to and complement this calming sanctuary I’ve made for myself.

Describe your home’s style in five words or fewer: Calming, lived-in, and nature-inspired.

What is your favorite room and why? Because I live in a studio, it would be the main dwelling area. The natural light and sunsets I can watch at night from my couch never cease to make this space magical. I am candle-obsessed and love to light them all, throw on a record, and read. Or to spend time cooking in the kitchen and be able to have my boyfriend or friends over while I cook and all be in the same place.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I had recently found an old wooden frame in Savers for $3 that I had been waiting for the perfect print to frame. I ended up drawing my own version of a photo I had taken while on a road trip in Norway a few summers back and it was the perfect personalized addition to an otherwise blank wall.

What’s your best decorating, shopping, cleaning, or organizing advice? Sunday resets are my jam. It keeps the Sunday scaries away and also just makes for a happy and healthier home. I am a full believer in making a home cozy and organized to help with overall mental health. I love to also be surrounded by pieces that bring me joy to look at, or remind me of special memories or people.

Thanks, Jennifer!
