Rena Sofer is making a grand return to the popular soap opera General Hospital after departing from it over two decades ago.

The 54-year-old soap star is reprising her role as Lois Cerullo, the quick-witted, charming character who she originally played from 1993 to 1997 and received a Daytime Emmy for her performance in 1995.

The network confirmed the big news to People and Sofer's new episodes are expected to air in October.

Many fans hoped this was coming after Sofer left another soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, in 2022, almost 10 years after joining the series in 2013 to play Quinn Forrester.

In General Hospital, Sofer's character Lois was one half of a fan-favorite couple, dating and eventually marrying Ned Quartermaine, played by Wally Kurth.

The new episodes will have Lois reuniting with her ex-husband, Ned, with whom she shares daughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (played by Amanda Setton). Sofer is also reuniting on stage with her own ex-husband, as she and Kurth were married from 1995 to 1997 and share a child named Rosabel Rosalind Kurth.

Currently in General Hospital, Ned is suffering from amnesia that is threatening his relationship with his current wife, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), so Lois' reappearance is certain to challenge them even further.

Fans are super excited to see Sofer on screen in General Hospital once again, with someone reacting on X (formerly known as Twitter), "I've been writing this should happen since she left her last show. I was writing it just yesterday!! YAY. Party time."

Finally, their dream is coming true!

ABC has not shared how long Sofer will be back on General Hospital or any details about Lois' new storyline.
