Remembering Lindamarie Hill

May 10—BEEKMANTOWN — Family, friends, and students remember the late Lindamarie Hill, 79 of Cooper Drive in Beekmantown, who passed away on May 7, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Portland, Maine on May 8, 1944, the daughter of Frederick and Alice (Twombly) Hill, according to her R.W. Walker Funeral Home obituary.

Lindamarie attended Texas Tech University and Plattsburgh State University. She was a self-employed Reiki Master and Instructor.

"I am so very thankful for the many gifts I received from Linda, not only through our interactions as Reiki practitioners, but because she was a valuable teacher and role model," Jeff Cochran, a Plattsburgh resident, said.

"Linda had a calling and the faith and courage to share her discoveries with us. While I knew her, she just kept growing more and more beautiful."

Lindamarie was a member of the Universal Unitarian Church of Plattsburgh and Mount Mansfield.

"With great sadness, I write to let you know that Lindamarie Hill, beloved teacher, healer, and inspiration to so many, died early yesterday morning, May 7. She would have celebrated her 80th birthday today," the Rev. Nicoline Guerrier, Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh, wrote on Wednesday.

"Always on the lookout for sources of positive, peaceful, unifying and creative energy, Lindamarie devoted herself to bringing teachings from the world's wisdom traditions into our UU and community spaces, encouraging cross-pollination as well as the embrace of holistic and complementary alternative therapies. Her home on Cooper Drive, where many experienced a special power on the land, welcomed spiritual teachers and learners from far beyond the North Country. She spread these gifts further throughout the community by her work at Trinity Point Holistic Center, which she founded, as well as in service to the Red Hummingbird Foundation."

Cliff Haven residents Don and Vivian Papson founded the Red Hummingbird Foundation, an organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting families and community.

"On the day after Lindamarie passed, which would have been her 80th birthday, a hummingbird appeared outside our kitchen window, feeding on a daffodil, to tell us her spirit was at peace," Don said.

"Vivian and I are grateful that Lindamarie loved the Red Hummingbird Foundation as much as we did, and that she became its champion."

Plattsburgh resident Rachelle Armstrong shared a letter she wrote to Lindamarie dated April 27, 2024:

"Dearest Lindamarie,

I'm so grateful for the light you've brought to my life and our community's life. You've touched us individually by sharing your great gifts as a healer. You've helped us to see a new way, to understand our part in the interdependent web of life. You've shown us how to envision and embody our shared history as part of the divine evolutionary spark of creation. You have shaped us and made us a part of your search for meaning, leading us toward a new era of understanding, of being. You have been a fire bringer, kindling our imaginations, reminding us of the Great Source of Inspiration that is never absent because it lies both within and without. Your generosity and fearlessness, your unrelenting faith has lifted us and sifted our false sense of separateness into the understanding that, collectively, we are the Infinite, Undying Whole. and here today, just as you've shared your many gifts, you are sharing your graceful and beautiful transition. You remind us, as you always have, not to think in terms of finality, or in finite terms, but rather of the continuation of the life force, of what is ever changing and reconfiguring. You generous soul: as you've gathered us together here, you share the wisdom of knowing when to yield, to accept, and trust what is next. I will carry you, my dear friend and teacher, carry all that you've given me as I go forward, for you have shaped who I am."
