Reigns: Three Kingdoms And Terra Nil Are Coming To Nintendo Switch

Reigns Three Kingdoms

Netflix has been slowly building up its mobile games library over the last year or so, and now has a surprisingly large collection of games available to all subscribers at no extra cost. Some of these games have been exclusive to Netflix in one way or another, but it seems like those contracts are starting to ease up, at least a little bit.

Two of those games are Reigns: Three Kingdoms and Terra Nil, both of which are some of the best games on Netflix. The former game, made by Nerial as part of a long and fantastic series of Tinder-like Reigns games, has been 100% exclusive to Netflix so far. Terra Nil, on the other hand, did launch on Steam alongside its Netflix Games release, but hadn’t made the jump over to other platforms just yet.

That changes in the next two months. Devolver Digital – the developer for both games – announced that both Reigns: Three Kingdoms and Terra Nil would be headed to Nintendo Switch. Reigns: Three Kingdoms will also be coming to PC, well and truly leaving the mobile market behind — though both games will still be available on Netflix Games, where the streaming giant acts as their de facto publisher.

Netflix Games is far from the only service to lose exclusivity on its games after a short time. Apple Arcade has a long history of its games making the jump to Switch 6-12 months after first launching on Apple’s gaming service, to the point where many non-iPhone owners will express excitement for the inevitable Switch release when a new Apple Arcade game gets announced.

Exclusivity agreements like this are not particularly rare in the games industry, either. One of the more famous recent examples is with the Final Fantasy series, where FF7 Remake and FF16 have both, so far, remained exclusive to PlayStation consoles like the PS4 and PS5. Both of those games eventually got PC releases as well, but neither looks likely to make the jump over to Xbox Series X|S anytime soon.

Terra Nil will be released on Nintendo Switch on December 18, while Reigns: Three Kingdoms is scheduled to be released on Switch and PC sometime in early 2024.
