It is $30 to register. Pre-registration must be done online by midnight on May 30 at www.runsignup.com/apl5K. There will be no on-site registration.

To get a special T-shirt, sign up by May 20.

Participants that want to race with their dogs need to ensure their pets are at least four years old, are up-to-date on all vaccinations, and must have proof of a current rabies vaccination. Dogs must also be sociable and well-behaved, APL officials said.

Animal rescue faces closure, urges donations

Race packets may be picked up at 4 p.m. on May 31 at the APL (1001 Taintor Road in Springfield). A limited amount of packets will also be available for pick-up on the day of the race.

The APL also encourages donations. Participating teams or individuals can establish an online fundraising page where friends, family, and co-workers can donate on their behalf. $30 can also go towards a Compass for Kids Student sponsor. With a sponsorship, students receive a race swag bag and an event T-shirt, and you get a personalized thank you letter from them in return.
