New Regional Travel Guide released from Visit Southern West Virginia

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Official Visitors Guide for Visit Southern West Virginia has been released for the 2024 year.

More than $1 million announced for projects in West Virginia

The non-profit tourism organization worked with the digital company called Digital Relativity to design a guidebook that is both easy to understand and aesthetically pleasing for travelers to find things like food, activities, lodging, and points of interest amongst other things in nine counties of southern West Virginia.

Visit Southern West Virginia distributes their own fulfillment pieces, which include 100,000 copies of the guide and those of their members as well. In 2023 there were more than 400,000 resources that contributed to the traveling and welcoming of tourism, and other requests as well, which is part of their marketing strategy.

In 2022 from tourism alone West Virginia gained $7.3 billion which helped support more than 54,000 jobs. All nine counties saw a visitor spending from tourism over $1.157 billion all together.

“Every spring when we receive the newest visitors guide, it feels like Christmas,” says Lisa Strader, Executive Director of VSWV. “The amount of work that goes into our annual piece is only surpassed by the amount of pride we get when sharing it both potential visitors and those looking for more things to see and do while in our coverage area.”
