Regé-Jean Page is just playing with us now.

After breaking hearts last week to announce that he will not appear in Bridgerton's second season, he dresses to kill at the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards days later to remind us what we're missing. It's like an ex dumping you on Friday, then posting a thirst trap before the weekend is over—or worse, showing up to the same party as you just to stunt.

But who can blame Page for being damn fine and owning it? For last night's virtual ceremony, he wore a dark velvet tuxedo and printed shirt by Louis Vuitton, paired with loafers, a custom VRAI diamond lapel pin, and the subtlest diamond huggie earring. If the Duke of Hastings lived in the Instagram era, he would most definitely post this OOTD.

Page was nominated for the Male Actor in a Drama Series award, which ultimately went to Ozark star Jason Bateman. Other nominees included Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Josh O'Connor (The Crown), and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul). Though he went home empty-handed last night, Page took home his first major trophy for his performance as the Bridgerton duke last week, at the NAACP Image Awards.

Page's exit from the hit Netflix series may come as a surprise, but the actor explained to Variety that his role had only a short-term commitment. "It's a one-season arc. It's going to have a beginning, middle, end—give us a year," he said about early talks with the series producers. "[I thought] 'That's interesting,' because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on."

He also has high hopes for the future of the show, even if he's not part of it. "I have nothing but excitement for Bridgerton continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe," he said. "But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing."
