Reese Witherspoon is Producing A New Country Music Competition Show And We're So Here For It

  • In 2019, Reese Witherspoon was an executive producer on Apple TV’s The Morning Show, and in 2020 it was announced that she would be producing a new show with Netflix about celebrity home organization.

  • Next up, the actress' production company, Hello Sunshine, is working on Apple TV’s first country music competition.


Country music fans and Reese Witherspoon fans alike will love the latest project from the actress-turned-producer.

On Monday, August 17, the 44-year-old actress took to Instagram to share some very exciting news about her newest project.

“Well, it’s not looking like I’ll ever fulfill my childhood dreams of becoming DollyParton… but this might just be the next best thing!” she captioned the photo of her grinning with a guitar in hand. “I am beyond excited to share that Hello Sunshine will be partnering with Apple [TV] to bring y’all its very first competition series called ‘My Kind of Country’... the search for extraordinary country music talent.”

In case you didn’t know, Reese, who is an executive producer for the show, grew up in Nashville and has been a long-time fan of country music—and for many reasons.

“The history of songwriting and recording, the artistry of matching lyrics and chords, the true expression of what is happening to humanity right now... not to mention the dazzling stage performances that bring you to your feet,” she continued in her post. “There are so many remarkably talented people whose voices are being heard right now, but there are many more who have different experiences and remarkable stories that still need to be told in the genre. I’ve been incredibly inspired by all artists who continue to blaze bold new trails and our hope is to discover musicians who are revolutionizing country music and help amplify their voices and bring the JOY of Country Music to everyone around the world!”

While it’s still unclear when this new music competition will be available for streaming, fans can’t contain their excitement.

Artist, poet, activist, and author Cleo Wade wrote, “You know I’m extremely here for this,” followed by a heart-eyed emoji.

“I would like to be a contestant,” actress and comedian Mindy Kaling chimed in.

“Soooo excited for this!!! Yay!” country singer Kelsea Ballerini exclaimed.

“Ahhhh omg I can’t wait for this show!!!” actress AnnaSophia Robb wrote.

Naturally, the list goes on. And this all comes just days after the big announcement that Reese is working with Netflix to produceGet Organized With The Home Edit, a show that focuses on The Home Edit founders Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin expertly organizing the homes of celebrities and everyday folks.
