Reese Witherspoon is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Sweet Home Alabama, which she says changed her life

Witherspoon, now 46, played the role of Melanie Smooter in the early 2000s rom-com, alongside Patrick Dempsey, Josh LucasJean Smart and Candice Bergen, among other stars.

In a message posted to Instagram and Twitter on Saturday, Sept. 17, the Legally Blonde actress shared a montage clip from the iconic movie to reminisce on some of her favorite quotes from the flick.

"20 years ago Sweet Home Alabama came out and completely changed my life," the Hello Sunshine founder wrote. "So many great scenes with these amazing actors—Josh, Patrick, Dakota [Fanning], Melanie [Lynskey], Jean, Ethan [Embry], Mary Kay [Place], Fred [Ward], and Candace [sic], of course!"

She then pointed out her personal favorite line: after a young Melanie, played by Fanning, asked Thomas Curtis's Jake Perry, "Why would you wanna marry me for, anyhow?" the young boy responded, "So I can kiss you anytime I want."

The clip also featured other notable moments from the movie, including Witherspoon's short, layered haircut and mug shots.

Of course, the video was rounded off with the emotional scene of Lucas' character standing out in the rain, asking her the same question Melanie asked as a little girl: "Whatchu want to be married to me for anyhow?" It prompted her older self to deliver the same charming line, "So I can kiss you anytime I want."

In her post on Saturday, Witherspoon asked her followers if they remembered their first time seeing the film, prompting many of them to share their own personal memories of it.

"20 years ago?! I remember the theater we saw it in! Love this movie!!," one user responded on Twitter.

"20 years ago I came to the States to be an Au Pair and I can‘t remember how many times I watched this movie. I just loooved it and I still do 😃👍🏻," another person wrote.

Some of Witherspoon's celebrity pals also commented on her Instagram post, with designer Rachel Zoe writing, "BEST MOVIE EVER."

Elle Fanning, Dakota's younger sister, added, "THE BEST."
