Reese Witherspoon Gave Her Daughter the Sweetest Gift for Her 18th Birthday

Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava Phillippe have previously captured the attention of the Internet for basically being twins, but over the weekend, on Ava’s 18th birthday, fans were swooning over the mother-daughter relationship for a whole new reason.

While some may expect a celebrity parent to shower their children with expensive, material gifts, Witherspoon’s gift was completely different. The thoughtful, sentimental gesture didn’t cost a thing, and judging by Phillippe’s reaction, she was more than okay with that.

The 18-year-old took to Instagram on her birthday to share a photograph of the gift—a bundle of letters Witherspoon wrote every year since Ava was born—captioned “18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother.”

The birthday love didn’t stop there. Witherspoon shared two photos of her daughter on her Instagram—one a sweet throwback of the mother-daughter duo when Phillippe was a child followed by a recent photo, accompanied by a heartfelt caption. “Your kindness, grace, intelligence and humor never cease to amaze me. I love you and your HUGE [heart] and I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom,” she wrote.
