Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe Just Proved This Outerwear Trend Is Here to Stay
The puffer coat trend is still going strong in the New Year. Just take a glance at Reese Witherspoon’s Instagram post if you need more proof that this cozy, fluffy, super-warm outerwear piece isn’t disappearing from the fashion scene anytime soon (at least not for the next four months).
Witherspoon shared a photo of her and daughter Ava Phillippe, who’s her actual doppelgänger, posing in front of what appear to be snow-covered mountains. As such, it’s safe to assume the family trekked to a chilly locale that required some heavy-duty winter wear.
So, what do you pack when you go somewhere spine-chillingly cold? As a Minnesota native, I’ve experienced my fair share of below-zero days (last year, we even hit a low of negative 50 degrees Fahrenheit!), so I can confidently say that I know all about these cold-weather essentials. Shearling-lined boots, like the ones Katie Holmes wore last month, are an absolute must, as is a thick, warm coat that ideally doesn’t weigh, well, 100 pounds.

The coats don’t come cheap, though, ranging anywhere from $800 to $3,000. But perhaps the best example of why they’re definitely worth their hefty price tag is Reese herself, who has owned her long black Moncler coat for (at least) 10 years.
