Reese Witherspoon Asks For Privacy After Heartbreaking Instagram News
Actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth have decided to divorce.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the Your Place or Mine actress made the announcement to her followers.
"We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together. Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."
The two, who would have been celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary on March 26, first met in 2009 at a party. Shortly after, they started dating in January 2010.
“Jim said ‘I’m gonna show you every day what a good partner is, what a good person is. I'm going to take care of you. I'm gonna do this so much that you're gonna get used to it,'” the actress previously told Elle. “I was like ‘What are you talking about?’ I’ve never had anybody like that in my life.”
Just a year later, they wed on March 26, 2011, and Jim, who is a talent agent, became a step-father to Reese's two older children, Ava and Deacon, who she shares with her first husband, actor Ryan Phillippe. Reese then gave birth to their first child, Tennessee James Toth, on September 27, 2012.
We can only imagine how difficult this is for the couple, but according to People, the two are still "best friends" and the decision was very amicable.
