It's really going for gold with this winning shape.

Reese's has been playing with the shape of its iconic Peanut Butter Cups for limited-time seasonal treats for a while now. It creates Peanut Butter Eggs for spring and Easter, Peanut Butter Roses for Valentine's Day, and evergreen-shaped trees for the holidays.

The brand got itself in a little hot water last fall when a consumer sued its maker, The Hershey's Company, for deceptive packaging. The consumer claims she was deceived because the wrapper shows the Peanut Butter pumpkins with a nose and mouth (like a Jack-o-lantern), but the actual candy does not have a nose and mouth.

The lawsuit, which has yet to be settled, also extends to other Reese's products with a picture on the front that doesn't precisely match the candy inside. We're a little curious about Reese's latest new shape—and first-ever summer shape—because the photo of the candy on the packaging shows something that we suspect may look different than the actual candy inside the packaging.

New Reese’s Medals Celebrate the Summer Olympics

Reese's first-ever summer shape is shaped like an Olympic medal to honor the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Instagram's Snackolator posted photos of the packaging with the message that the new shape is coming soon.

"The only medals that I'm training for this summer are new Reese's Medals that are coming out for the Paris 2024 Olympics!" the voice behind Snacklator wrote in the comments, adding, "I love watching them and will chow down some Reese's Medals when the USA wins with pride and delight."

The outside of the packaging shown on the Instagram photo shows lines carved into the candy, so it better resembles an Olympic medal than if the chocolate coating was all smooth. But we suspect the candy inside does not have the lines carved on them.

"Someone's going to bite into this and file a lawsuit because it's not an actual 'medal,'" one commenter joked.

Most commenters were just excited to have this new shape to enjoy while watching some of the world's best athletes compete, and some even say they've seen them in stores already.

"Saw those in my local Walmart yesterday," said one of the account's followers.

"Yaaas the chunky shapes are life!" said another, presumably because many of the shapes are thicker than the OG Peanut Butter cups, therefore having a higher peanut butter filling-to-chocolate coating ratio.

No matter what your favorite Reese's Peanut Butter shape is, one commenter summed it up nicely: "Everyone's a winner when they choose Reese's chocolate."
