Reebok Reveals a Collection for the Upcoming ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ Movie for the Entire Family

“Minions” fans, Reebok has a collection for you coming soon.

The brand revealed its “Minions: The Rise of Gru” collection today that was created with Illumination and Universal Brand Development. The lineup celebrates the acclaimed movie franchise and its upcoming film, which is scheduled to arrive on July 2, 2021. It includes footwear in sizing for the entire family.

From a storytelling perspective, Reebok explained the collection was directly inspired by the upcoming movie, which “chronicles the untold story of one 12-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain.” And each shoe comes with its own narrative driven by its beloved characters.

The Minions x Reebok Question Mid “Gru’s Lab,” for instance, features glow-in-the-dark “slime” in the outsole and rocket booster graphics “to propel any undersized villain to the rim.” Also, it incorporates “metals” from Gru’s lab, as seen on the tonal silver upper and asymmetric double-sided “trap door” insoles that “hide top-secret elements. The sneaker retails for $175 and comes in adult sizing.

The Instapump Fury “Vicious 6” is inspired by “the world’s most notorious collective of villains.” It was designed with several contrasting prints, colors, materials and textures. The left shoe uses gold and yellow color blocking and graphics, which are inspired by the wardrobe of the character Belle Bottom, as well as nods to the character Stronghold’s tank top and a molded heel TPU with faux stingray material that resembles Jean Claw’s robotic crab arm. As for the right shoe, the lining includes racing stripes and spikes for Svengeance’s roller derby uniform, nods to Nun Chuck’s holy chariot and zebra-striped pony hair and gator on the toe for White Nuckle. Adult sizing will retail for $200. The shoe is also available in toddler sizing.

The “Vicious 6” is also the inspiration for a new-look Club C, which is a nod to the 1970s feel of the movie. It is executed with materials synonymous with the time including corduroy, premium leather and nubuck on the upper, which is paired with velvet lining and shag rug insoles. It will drop in adult sizing for $100.

Another Instapump Fury, the “Minions” shoe, is dressed in their yellow and blue palette, which Reebok said is “imagined through the eye(s) of the Minions themselves.” The look is asymmetrical and features imagery of a Minions party on the insoles, Minion eyes on the Pump buttons and a banana peel graphic on the left outsole. The adult version of the shoe retails for $170. Reebok will also release a toddler version.

A second Club C will also be included, dubbed “Otto,” a kids-only shoe that is named after the newest Minion. The look is predominantly yellow with Minions party insoles and lime green hits. Also, Reebok will reveal something from the film in the shoe via splashes of mud on the outsoles. It will come in grade school, pre-school and toddler sizing for $70.

Further nods to Gru’s lab are seen on the packaging for the shoes, executed with hand-illustrated orthographic views of the character’s childhood bedroom and top-secret lair. Also, Reebok will include Easter eggs from the movie and details sure to please fans.

The “Minions” x Reebok lineup arrives on Oct. 1 via Reebok.com and at select retailers. However, Reebok Unlocked members will be able to access the collection early on Sept. 30.
