Reebok Is Bringing Back a Lesser-Sung Allen Iverson Sneaker, the Answer 3

Fresh off of appointing Allen Iverson vice president of its revived Basketball division, Reebok is bringing back a deeper cut from his signature sneaker line.

The Answer 3, originally released in 1999 and not generating much noise since, is making its return in one of its OG colorways. While white forms the majority of the shoe, from the sole unit to the leather upper, “Flash Red” anchors it through the swirling suede underlay. The stitched lines on this element draw comparisons to the Air Jordan 12, particularly here and next to the “Cherry” colorway that just released, while the shoe’s overall profile may also call to mind the Air Jordan 13.

As the name suggests, the Answer 3 was the third in Iverson’s Reebok Answer series but his fourth overall signature sneaker. It was the first in his line to feature DMX cushioning, a soft and responsive foam made up of two layers used on each subsequent sneaker until the Answer 6. In the season he wore the Answer 3, Iverson made his first All-Star Game appearance and finished with the league’s second highest-scoring average behind none other than newly appointed Reebok Basketball president Shaquille O’Neal.

The Question, Iverson’s first signature model, and the Answer 4 are by far the most popular from franchise. Reebok has been pushing them especially hard in recent years, and the reemergence of the Answer 3 will test just how far retro-mania can take the Iverson series.

The Reebok Answer 3 “White/Red” will release Nov. 10 through Reebok’s website. Pricing is set at $140.
