Ree Drummond, a self-described "accidental country girl," wrote her first blog post in 2006. The brand she built following the wild success of her website includes a Food Network show and a collection of bestselling cookbooks and children's books. Her general store and restaurant, The Pioneer Woman Mercantile, opened in October in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Now, she's debuting her own magazine in June 2017.

That's right, The Pioneer Woman magazine is coming to a Wal-Mart near you!

According to a news release, its content will span food, entertaining, fashion, family, and general lifestyle topics, while also incorporating a healthy dose of her personal photographs and stories.

"I love using images to tell stories, demonstrate recipes, and share helpful tips, and I want to create a fun, positive, exciting experience for readers," Drummond said in the release.

The new magazine is the result of a joint venture between Scripps Networks Interactive and Hearst Magazines (also Country Living's publisher), the same partnership behind Food Network Magazine and HGTV Magazine. Food Network editor-in-chief Maile Carpenter is set to edit the first issue, which will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart, where Drummond's line of housewares is also sold.

CountryLiving.com reached out to Ree to ask her a few questions about what fans can expect from her new magazine.

You wrote your first blog post in 2006. How does it feel to be launching your own newsstand magazine with one of the world's top publishers 10 years later?

"It's very exciting, but it also feels very natural! I'm glad I waited until now to launch a print magazine, as I think having ten years of content creation under my belt will really help give me the perspective I need to create something that readers will love."

You've worked with multiple forms of media, including digital, television, and books; what is it about the print magazine medium that appeals to you?

"I've always loved the medium of blogging-writing short pieces about a mix of topics with photos to help illustrate. The magazine will allow me to continue that approach, but with glossy pages! I'm excited about the possibilities for content, and my list of topics is growing every day."

How involved will you be in the making of each issue?

"I plan to be extremely involved, just as I am with my cookbooks, show, and product line. I have always had a strong sense that if something says "The Pioneer Woman," it has to be my voice. Then, no matter which direction it goes, I can always be proud that I made sure it was mine."

Will the Marlboro Man have his own column?

"My cowboy will definitely have a presence in the magazine. He has written some very well-received posts on my blog through the years, and while he uses much fewer words (and less flowery language) than I, I think readers will really enjoy hearing his perspective on a variety of topics."

We understand the new title will include personal anecdotes and photos - what do you think readers will be surprised to learn about you?

"I think my blog has always done a good job of showing my real, everyday personality: positive, upbeat, wacky, and weird. I intend to include the funny moments, the silly stories, and the occasional tearjerker."

Can we expect to see you as the cover girl each month, a la Oprah and Dr. Oz?

"Yes, but only if you call me the cover 'gal!'"
