This Redditor Shared a Genius Undereye Concealer Tip for Brown Skin Tones

"I just wanted to give her the confidence that makeup gives me."

Generation Z has grown up on beauty YouTube, and their parents (and grandparents) are reaping the benefits in the form of flawless makeup. University of Albany student Kaivalya Gorla, aka TheWhitestBrown on Reddit, recently shared side-by-side photos of the gorgeous glow-up she gave her mother.

The comparison photos show what looks like two different women. Gorla transformed her mom into a much brighter version of herself, with no dark undereye circles and glowing skin. Her post on MakeUpAddiction quickly filled up with comments of praise, and fans wanted to know how exactly she created the look.

As Gorla explained in the comment section, she used the Black Radiance Concealer Stick, for color-correction (an apparently life-changing product which costs all of $2.29). She broke down her process into three steps. First, she recommends using a peachy concealer on the under-eyes, blended in with a small brush. Second, she layers the area with a medium-to-high coverage concealer (think Tarte Shape Tape). Finally, she uses a loose powder to set the concealer.

Gorla used a peach-toned color corrector to create this look, but commenters chimed in to recommend purple-hued color correctors for dark skin. Fans sang the praises of purple-to-lavender shades for brightening up dark under-eyes. "I have an olive skin tone and it's crazy how much it brightens up the area," one commenter wrote.

As for Gorla and her mom, it seems they'll be sticking to their own brightening beauty routine for now. "I have been begging [my mom] for years to let me do her makeup, but she was never interested," Gorla tells Allure. "I just wanted to give her the confidence that makeup gives me. Finally, after constant nagging, she said yes! I didn’t waste any time and immediately started doing her makeup. She was shocked and amazed at how different and younger she looked." She loved the look so much that she sent photos to friends and family — and, of course, went viral on Reddit/MakeUpAddiction, which is no easy group of beauty judges to impress.
