There's nothing like a hearty bowl of chicken and dumplings to warm you up from the inside out. One fan-favorite spot to grab this Southern comfort food is Cracker Barrel, as evidenced by the 13 million orders the restaurant serves up every year. However, visiting a restaurant is not the only way to do right by the savory dish. As TikTok user Amanda Finks, a.k.a. @amandafinksofficial, discovered earlier this year, Red Lobster's beloved Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix can give your classic chicken and dumplings recipe the update it deserves.

As the TikToker demonstrated in a video, executing this comfort food mash-up is pretty simple. As the soup part of your chicken and dumplings, comes to a simmer, prep your biscuit dough per the instructions on the package. Or, if you want to go above and beyond, you could make your dough using this copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit recipe instead.

Once the ingredients are mixed, you can use a spoon or cookie dough scoop to spoon out biscuit dough and drop it directly into your simmering soup, making sure the dough balls don't touch. After everything is cooked, gently break the dumplings apart and stir everything together, and then you're ready to enjoy.

TikToker @amandafinksofficial was really on to something when they decided to use Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix as dumplings for chicken and dumplings. "The dumplings are pillowy and tender and full of flavor," they said in their September 15 video, which also received thousands of likes and comments from viewers expressing their stamps of approval.

"Ya know, I'm a southern chicken n dumplins purest. I mean flat dumplings, homemade broth, no veggies, no dairy ... but I'd tear this up with those CBBs," one person commented, while another called Finks' use of Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix "genius." A third commenter who also identified themself as a Southerner offered a "hot tip": "Always use your soup broth to make the dumplings instead of different water, it changes the game."

While the response to this Cheddar Bay Biscuit Chicken and Dumplings dish was overwhelmingly positive, Finks did note that it was a bit lacking in the classic cheddar bay flavor. However, per the ingredients listed on the box, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and parsley are the main spices used in the garlic herb blend provided in the packaged mix. Therefore, you could always experiment with adding a bit more of these spices to your biscuit dough to give your chicken and dumplings some more flavor.
