Red Bull Rampage Rider DJ Brandt Shares BTS Look At Day 1

Red Bull Rampage's dig week is well underway and the lines are all beginning to take shape.

Most of the riders are expanding on their lines from last year as the contest is being held at the same venue it was last season.

Take a look at DJ Brandt's peak behind the Rampage curtain below.

These behind the scenes videos of Rampage are very cool and insightful. It is great for perspective to show that this event is completely built by the riders and to see just how much work goes into Rampage in the weeks leading up to it.

In DJ's case, this is his third year at the event and his second on this venue. So, his workload for this season is sprucing up his line from last year and adding what he can to refine his run from last season.

There is a distinct advantage to being a returning Rampage rider. For one, you can reuse your line from the previous season which is a massive advantage in itself.

Also, you have the advantage of the relationships and digging alliances from time spent on the Rampage scene.

"Dig cliques" are a huge factor in this event. That basically means riders who team up and combine forces to work on shared parts of a line. A prime example is Cam Zink and Kyle Strait who have shard lines with minor deviations for the last five or so years.

Some critics have brought up the question of whether this level of collaboration should be allowed in an event that is supposed to be relatively self/team supported like this but no move will likely be made to curb this.
