September may bring new beginnings with back-to-school and changing seasons, but it also brings us some of our favorite dishes that we look forward to cooking all year long. As we usher in fall, we're still enjoying the last remnants of summer produce (just can't get enough tomatoes, corn, and peaches!) while also welcoming the tastes of apple and pumpkin spice into the mix. And we're ready to fire up our stockpots and ovens again for these in-between favorites to take us from season to season. Here are the recipes we'll be making this month.

Of course we're kicking off September with Labor Day Weekend and all its festivities. Whether you're having one last summer soirée or simply chilling at home, blackened chicken is a spicy twist on the usual BBQ fare. This version gets seared on a hot cast iron pan and finished in the oven, but could easily be grilled as well. Add the chicken to any of your favorite salads or serve it with potato salad and corn on the cob.

This recipe was a big hit when it came out in June and we can see why. These "Arizona Tacos," or "Tacos Dorados" (golden tacos) are crispy, crunchy, irresistible, and fun. In other words, a perfect recipe to close out summer. Like all tacos, they're endlessly customizable, too—ideal for your crowd. Creator Julia Levy (along with the Allrecipes Test Kitchen) gives helpful tips on the recipe page for easy prep.

Maple-Roasted Carrots with Carrot-Top Pesto

A beautiful dish to serve on any fall table, this recipe uses every part of the carrot for a satisfying and unique side dish. Take it from one Allrecipes user who commented, "Delicious! The sweetness of the carrots went [well] with the pungent taste of the pesto, and who knew carrot tops would make such a good pesto."

What's more, they couldn't be easier to make ahead and enjoy on the go. They'll keep in the fridge or freezer and are a breeze to reheat in the microwave.

While I can't quite bring myself to break out my chili pot yet, I am happily simmering corn chowder this month, and I've got the fresh corn to make it happen weekly. As recipe creator outandabout829 vouches, this is a "terrific recipe for fresh corn and potatoes and has always been a hit whenever I've served it." For extra flavor, I use my cobs to make stock for the soup as well.

We're still eking out the last of our seasonal produce, and this comforting casserole bridges the gap between summer and fall perfectly. Simply layer tomatoes and zucchini in a baking dish with cheese and herbs and top with crispy bread crumbs for a dish that has "amazing flavor and [is] easy to make," according to reviewer Lorna.

The addition of pepperoncini peppers at the end brings even more flavor and spicy tang. Recipe creator Randi notes this is the "Best homemade Italian beef I have ever had," adding, "My mom always made it, and she passed this recipe down to me. It's so good!"
