All the Recent Toy Recalls That Could Impact Your Kid — What To Do
It’s always scary to hear about a toy being recalled. Something that is supposed to bring your child joy could hurt them? Something that’s supposed to keep them safe hurt them? (We’re looking at you, bike helmets!) Each year, companies and retailers pull all kinds of toys and kids’ products from the shelves because of the (previously unknown) risks they pose. Sometimes this happens after shoppers report malfunctions, or sometimes manufacturers notice these problems on their own. They then work with the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) to get these out of the hands of kiddos.
What’s important to know, is that just because one toy from a company is recalled, that doesn’t mean all their toys are dangerous. It doesn’t even mean every version of that toy is faulty. Sometimes recalls only impact a very specific set of toys made in a very specific timeframe.
It’s also good to keep in mind that just because something isn’t recalled, that doesn’t inherently mean it’s safe. Recalls happen when manufacturers actually agree to pull their products, meaning there could be plenty of risky toys on shelves that companies are unwilling to address. If you ever have concerns about the safety of your children’s toys, you can research any complaints or report your own at SaferProducts.gov.
Below are all the recent toy recalls that all parents and caregivers should be aware of and instructions on what to do if you own a recalled toy beyond just immediately taking them away from kids. JAKKS Pacific Children’s Mario Kart Ride-On Racer Car Toys
More than 17 thousand of JAKKS Pacific’s battery-operated Mario Kart Ride-On Racer Cars for kids were recalled in April 2024 because it poses a crash hazard. The accelaration pedal can become clogged with debris and then stick even after the user’s foot is removed from the pedal.

Chau River Sports Outdoors Multi-Purpose Kids’ Bike Helmets
Around 200 units of the Chau River Sports Outdoors Multi-Purpose Kids’ Bike Helmets — which comes in four colors and patterns including the blue dino pattern shown — were recalled in April 2024 for failing to meet federal safety regulations. Consumers should cut the straps of the helmet and send photos of the destroyed product through the messaging feature on the brand’s Temu page to receive a refund.
Gasaciods Children’s Multi-Purpose Helmets
Gasaciods recalled their blue and pink children’s bike helmets in April 2024 because they “do not comply with the positional stability, dynamic strength of retention system, impact attenuation, and certification requirements in violation of the CPSC federal safety regulation for bicycle helmets.” The CPSC reports that 18 units were impacted.
Consumers should stop using the recalled Gasaciods helmets and contact Fengwang Sports via their page on Temu.com. After submitting proof of destruction, they’ll receive a refund.
Yoto Mini Speakers
Yoto called more than 251 thousand units of their mini speakers in April 2024 because the included lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled audio players and contact minihelp@yotoplay.com for a free replacement smart charging cable.
Fischer Sports Junior Ski Boots
In April 2024, Fischer Sports recalled more than 1 thousand units of their junior ski boots. “The ski boot cuff can rotate, causing the lock mechanism to malfunction, posing a fall hazard and risk of injury to the consumer,” the CPSC said.
Consumers should immediately stop using the boots and contact juniorboot.us@fischersports.com to learn how to receive a refund, a free replacement, or a free repair.
Fisher-Price Little People Mickey and Friends Figures — Donald Duck and Daisy Duck Only
Fisher-Price recalled about 215 thousand units of their Little People Mickey and Friends Figures across the U.S. and Canada in March 2024 when it was found that the heads of the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures can detach. Once detached, the figures become choking hazards.
This recall only involves Donald Duck and Dasiy Duck. As such, consumers should take those two away from kids immediately but can let them continue to play with the four other figurines in the set.

Joybuy Magnetic Ball
Joybuy’s magnetic ball sets were recalled in March 2024 because “one or more magnets fit within CPSC’s small parts cylinder, and the magnets are stronger than permitted.” If swallowed, those high-powered magnets can become lodged in the digestive system and result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and death.

Getallfun High-Powered Magnetic Ball Sets
Getallfun’s high-powered magnetic ball sets were recalled at the same time for the same reasons. Consumers should contact Getallfun.com to receive a pre-paid label to return the recalled products and receive a full refund.
Sandford Family 6-Player Croquet Sets
A family croquet set sold exclusively on Amazon by DOM Sports was recalled in Feb. 2024 because the paint or surface coating on several items contained levels of lead that exceeded federal regulations.
“In addition, the coating on the red and blue mallets contains levels of regulated phthalates that exceed the prohibition of specific phthalates,” the CPSC said. “Lead and phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.”
Consumers with recalled sets should contact support@domsports.com for information on how to get free replacement parts. DOM Sports and Amazon are contacting known buyers.
Bell Soquel Youth Helmets
Certain youth bicycle helmets from Bell Sports were recalled in Feb. 2024 because the strap anchor can become dislodged and the helmets violate federal safety regulations. Specific models that were recalled in the U.S. and Canada can be found HERE.
For a refund, consumers should cut the straps off the recalled helmet, send photos of the destroyed helmet to consumersupport-bell@bellhelmets.com, and then dispose of the helmet.
The Museum of Modern Art Little Wanderer Snow Globes
The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) recalled these snow globes because they can break, posing a laceration hazard. Owners should immediately discard the recalled snow globes and contact order_services@moma.org for a full refund. Known purchasers are being contacted by MOMA.
Flat River Group NextGen Children’s Bicycles
These bikes — sold in multiple colors and sizes — were recalled because they violated federal regulations by not being equipped with foot brakes in addition to the hand brakes. Consumers should visit https://www.flatrivergroup.com/nextgen-recall/ for more information on next steps.
Lovevery Slide & Seek Ball Runs with Wooden Knobs
Toy subscription box service Lovevery recalled their Slide & Seek Ball Runs with Wooden Knobs in Feb. 2024 because the packaging can cause the wooden knob to come loose and detach, thus posing a choking hazard. About 47 thousand units have been impacted by the recall.
“Consumers will receive a free replacement after registering on the firm’s website, removing and marking the affected door with a specific case number (which will be emailed to known purchasers), uploading a photo of their marked door to www.recallrtr.com/ballrun, and affirming to Lovevery that the door will be disposed of in the trash,” the recall said.
Known purchasers are being contacted and caregivers should immediately take the toy away from children.
DailySale Magnetic DIY Balls Magic Cube, 5mm
This set of magnetic balls was recalled in Feb. 2024 because the magnets could cause serious injury or death if ingested. “The magnetic ball sets do not comply with the requirements of the mandatory federal toy regulation because they contain one or more magnets that fit within CPSC’s small parts cylinder and the magnets are stronger than permitted,” the recall said.

Huihuang Trading Fishing Games
In Feb. 2024, Huihuang Trading recalled their fishing game because one or more of the magnets do not meet mandatory federal requirements and can cause serious injury or death if ingested.
Consumers should stop using the game and contact safety@operationagency.com for a pre-paid return label. Upon receipt of the recalled game, consumers will receive a full refund. Huihang Trading Inc. is notifying known purchasers.
Yaomiao Children’s Rhinestone Silver Tiaras
This children’s tiara sold exclusively on Amazon was recalled in Jan. 2024 because the rhinestones contain levels of lead that exceed federal limits. Caregivers should immediately take the impacted tiaras (around 12 thousand units) away from kids and contact simlordroadple@163.com for a refund. The manufacturer and Amazon are contacting known purchasers.
Retrospec Scout Kid’s Bike Helmets
Around 72 thousand kid’s bike helmets from Retrospec were recalled in Jan. 2024 because they did not comply with federal safety regulations. As such, consumers should immediately stop using them.
For a refund, owners should destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps. They should then write their initials and the date near the Retrospec logo and upload a photo to https://retrospec.com/pages/retrospec-scout-recall. The product can then be disposed of and shoppers will receive a refund.
Litti City Premier Doctor Playset
Litti City, Litti Pritty, and Prextex recalled four toys in Dec. 2023, including the Litti City Premier Doctor Playset seen above. They also recalled the Litti City Teacher Purse Set, the Litti Pritti Stylist Handbag Set, and Pretex Slime Eggs (all seen below).
“All the dress-up playsets and the slime eggs contain levels of certain phthalates that exceed the federal phthalate standard,” the CPSC said. “In addition, the Litti City teacher purse dress-up playset, the Litti Pritti handbag playset, and the slime eggs contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban. Lead and phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.”

Relax 5mm Science Kit, Large Hematite Magnets Magnetic Stones Building Blocks
Sets of these 5mm magnetic balls — sold exclusively on Walmart.com via Joybuy — were recalled in Dec. 2023 for not complying with mandatory federal magnet regulations. They are smaller and stronger than permitted, and when ingested they can attract each other or another metal object, resulting in potentially fatal injuries.
Consumers should take the recalled magnets away from kids, and contact oversea-service@jd.com for a pre-paid label to return the products for a full refund. Joybuy is contacting known buyers.
Bunkhouse and Lotsa LITES! Connectable Mini String Lights
In case your kids’ toy room or fort has lights, you should know that Bunkhouse and Lotsa LITES! Connectable Mini String Lights were recalled in Dec. 2023 because they can overheat, presenting burn and fire hazards.

XpressGoods Colorful Metal Neodymium Magic Magnetic Balls
The 5mm XpressGoods Colorful Metal Neodymium Magic Magnetic Balls were recalled in Dec. 2023 after CPSC testing found they violated federal regulations. The magnets were smaller and stronger than permitted and, if ingested, could cause fatal injuries.

Bubba Bull Plush Toys
The Bubba Bull Plush Toys were recalled in Dec. 2023 because the stuffed animal’s eyes can break off, making them a choking hazard.

DTR M&M Maracas
Primark recalled these Mickey and Minnie Mouse rattles along with solid color versions (see HERE) in Dec. 2023 because the bottom portion can detach, posing choking and/or ingestion hazards.
Consumers should take the rattles away from children and return them to Primark for a full refund.
Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Toy Mushroom Peg Sorters
Target recalled their Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Toy Mushroom Peg Sorters in Nov. 2023 when it was found that the stems of the toy mushrooms could detach, making them a choking hazard.
Consumers should take the recalled sorters away from kids and return them to any Target location for a full refund. They can also receive a prepaid return label by contacting 800-440-0680. Target is contacting known buyers.
The FORT Children’s Play Tents
This magnetic foam fort was recalled in Oct. 2023 after it was found that the magnets could become dislodged, posing choking and laceration hazards.
No refund or replacement was offered to consumers.
“CPSC urges consumers to dispose of recalled children’s play tents and NOT to resell or donate them,” the recall report said in bold. “It is a violation of federal law to sell or distribute recalled products. The firm is no longer in business, so there is no remedy for consumers.”
Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Toys — Two Models
Fisher-Price recalled the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Crates and the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Troublesome Truck & Paint (see the two toys HERE) in Oct. 2023 because the piece containing the magnet that connects one train to another can become loose or detach. This poses the risk for choking and magnet ingestion.
About 21 thousand trains were sold. Consumers should immediately stop using the toys and visit service.mattel.com for a pre-paid return label and refund.
Cosco Jump, Spin & Play Activity Centers
This activity center from Dorel Juvenile Group was recalled in Oct. 2023 after it was found that the straps can detach or break, posing fall and injury hazards to kids inside the center. More than 115 thousand units were impacted by the recall.
Consumers should stop using the recalled activity centers, cut through the straps, and send a photo of the cut straps to CoscoActivityCenterRecall@djgusa.com to receive a free replacement.
Little Sleepies Sleepyhead Loveys
Sleepyhead Loveys were recalled in Oct. 2023 along with Bandana Bibs (below) because the care instruction label can detach, making it a choking hazard to kids.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled loveys and bibs away from kids and remove the care instruction label to eliminate the hazard. If they would rather not remove it, they can return the products with a pre-paid shipping label for a full refund.

SERIES: Rainbow Road Series Board Books
Seven board books from the Rainbow Road series including, Animal Counting, Dinosaur’s First Words, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Things That Go!, and two versions of Unicorn’s Colors were recalled in Sept. 2023 after it was found that the plastic binding rings can detach. More than 260 thousand units were impacted.
Consumers can receive a refund in the form of a gift card by registering online at www.recallrtr.com/rr. They will then be given instructions on how to prove they’ve disposed of the recalled books.
Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits
Buffalo Games recalled a water beads activity kit in Sept. 2023 after a 10-month-old died from swallowing one of the beads and a 9-month-old was seriously injured and required surgery. The beads expand in water, so if they are ingested, it expands and can pose ingestion, choking, and intestinal obstruction hazards.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled water beads away from children and contact beadrecall@buffalogames.com for a refund and return instructions.
In Dec. 2023, major retailers announced they would stop selling water beads (from all manufacturers) after safety experts and lawmakers warned of the dangers.
Ecnup Kids Bike Helmets
Ecnup’s kids bike helmets were recalled in Aug. 2023 because they don’t comply with federal safety standards.
Consumers should stop using the recalled products and contact bikebikeliu@hotmail.com for a refund. Ecnup is contacting all purchasers directly. Shoppers are required to email photos of the straps cut off from the recalled helmet.
Soft Play Sky Wheels
About 3.5 thousand Sky Wheels were recalled in July 2023 after it was reported that they could become detached from play sets, posing the risk of falls and subsequent injuries.
Businesses with Sky Wheels (such as play gyms) should contact Soft Play (800-782-7529) for a free inspection and advice customers not to use the Sky Wheel until it’s been inspected. Soft Play contacted known businesses.
woom ORIGINAL Kids’ Bicycles
The stem and handlebar on the woom ORIGINAL bikes for kids can detach and cause riders to lose control, and so about 84 thousand units were recalled in July 2023.
The company is contacting known purchasers directly, but consumers can also contact woom Bikes USA at productsafetyUS@woom.com for a free repair kit.
Zuru Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing & Swim Bath Toys
About 7.5 million Baby Shark bath toys were recalled in June 2023. “When using the recalled bath toys, particularly in a bathtub or wading pool, a child can slip and fall or sit onto the hard plastic top fin of the shark, posing risks of impalement, lacerations, and punctures,” the CPSC report said.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bath toys. Zuru will issue full refunds — $14 for the full-size toy and $6 for the mini one — in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard after receiving proof that the recalled toy has been destroyed. Hurtle Multi-Purpose Helmet
The Hurtle helmet for kids — sold in black, blue, pink, white, and red with the word “Renegade” on the side — was recalled in June 2023 for failing to meet federal safety standards.
“To receive a refund consumers should destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps, upload photos of the helmet with the straps cut to the recall registration website and then dispose of the recalled helmet,” the CPSC report said.
The Good and the Beautiful Math 1 and Math 3 Boxes
The Good and the Beautiful recalled 2 of their math boxes with metallic whiteboards in May 2023 because the whiteboard can become detached, exposing sharp edges. The company received four reports of minor lacerations.
Consumers should get rid of the recalled whiteboards and contact The Good and the Beautiful (find forms HERE) for a free non-metallic replacement.
Jetson Nova and Star 3-Wheel Kick Scooters
The rear wheel of the Jetson Nova and Star 3-Wheel Kick Scooters can loosen or fall off, posing a fall hazard to children riding the scooters. Certain modes were recalled in June 2023 (see HERE), and consumers should visit https://ridejetson.com/pages/star-nova-repair for a free repair kit.
Juratoys Janod Sweet Cocoon Activity Tables
The Janod Sweet Cocoon Activity Table was recalled in May 2023 because of a malfunction with the silver metal bell that’s circled in blue in the photo above. The bell can detach from its metal arch and thus become a choking hazard.
Consumers should stop using the tables and email recall@juratoysus.com for a free repair kit.
L.O.L. Surprise! Trick or Treat subscription boxes sold with Metal Doll Pins
In May 2023, L.O.L. Surprise! Trick or Treat subscription boxes sold with Metal Doll Pins were recalled because the do pins contained levels of lead that exceeded the federal limits. If ingested by young children, lead can cause adverse health effects.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled metal doll pins away from kids and contact info@culturefly.com for a $10 refund and instructions on how to properly dispose of the recalled dolls. Diamond Visions Screaming Plush Monkey Toys
The eyes on these screaming plush monkeys can detach, so they were recalled in April 2023 for posing a small part choking hazard. Caregivers should take the recalled toys away from kids and contact jheinzel@diamond-visions.com to receive a full refund
Easter Bunny and Boutique Butterfly Jewel Necklaces
This Easter Bunny necklace as well as butterfly versions (seen HERE) were recalled in April 2023 for having high levels of cadmium, which is toxic if ingested by kids.
Consumers will be asked to cut the recalled necklace chain in half and send a photo to customerservice@greatpretenders.ca to receive a full refund. The company is contacting known buyers.
Lil Anglers Children’s Fishing Rods sold with Kid Casters No Tangle Combos
The Children’s Fishing Rods sold with Kid Casters No Tangle Combos from Lil Anglers were recalled in April 2023 because the fishing rods contained levels of lead that exceeded federal laws. Owners of one of the more than 78 thousand impacted units should stop using the fishing rod and contact info@anything-possible.com for a free replacement.
Monti Kids Basket with Balls
In April 2023, Monti Kids recalled this basket with balls toy that was sold in some of their subscription boxes. “The swirls sewn onto the exterior of the blue crocheted ball can separate, exposing small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children,” the report said.
Consumers will have to cut the ball in half, throw it away, and send a picture as proof to customercare@montikids.com to receive a refund either back to the credit card used or in the form of a check.
2-in-1 Outdoor Kids Swings — Various Characters
Delta Enterprise Corp. recalled three versions of their 2-in-1 Outdoor Kids Swings in March 2023. Along with the Mickey Mouse one shown above, both a Minnie Mouse and Paw Patrol version were impacted by the recall. It was found that the seat restraint straps can break, so consumers should contact recall@deltachildren.com for free replacement straps.
IKEA BLAVINGAD fishing games
IKEA recalled the BLAVINGAD fishing games in April 2023 because a small metal rivet can come loose, detach, and pose a choking hazard. More than 25 thousand units were impacted. 42-volt Jetson Rogue Self-balancing Scooters/Hoverboards
These scooters and hoverboards were recalled in March 2023, nearly a year after two sisters — ages 10 and 15 — died from a fire that was reportedly caused by the lithium-ion battery pack which can overheat. Consumers should not only stop using the recalled products, but they should stop charging them too. Ouwoer Direct Multi-Purpose Kids Bike Helmets
These bike helmets — that were sold exclusively on Amazon — were recalled in March 2023 because they do not comply with federal safety standards and can fail to protect a child in the event of a crash. Consumers should stop using the recalled helmets, cut off the straps, and email a photo of the destroyed helmet to Ouwoer@hotmail.com for a full refund. Ouwoer Direct is also contacting known purchasers.
“My First” Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, and Stitch Figurines
Multiple characters in the “My First” Disney Character Figurines collection — including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, and Stitch — were recalled in Feb. 2023 because the extremities of the dolls can detach and become choking hazards. Consumers should take the soft vinyl figurines away from kids and contact recall@kidspreferred.com for a full refund.
Skip Hop Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gyms
Skip Hop recalled the cloud toy included with their activity gym in Feb. 2023 because the raindrops could detach from the ribbon, posing a choking hazard. This recall included more than 472 thousand units in the U.S., 23 thousand in Canada, and 2 thousand in Mexico.
Consumers should immediately remove the cloud toy from the activity gym, cut the raindrops off the cloud, and submit a photo at www.skiphoprecall.com. They will then receive a $10 Skip Hop gift card and a free shipping code.
Sakar International Helmets
Sakar International recalled this Crayola Dry Erase helmet, the Credhedz Lizard helmet (see below), and their Tony Hawk Multi-Purpose helmets (see here) in Jan. 2023 because they do not comply with federal safety standards for bicycle helmets. No injuries were reported at the time of the recall.
More than an estimated 33 thousand helmets are impacted by the recall. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact support@sakar.com for prepaid postage to return the helmet to Sakar and receive a refund in the form of a $30 gift card.
Sakar International Helmets
Sakar International recalled this Credhedz Lizard helmet, the Crayola Dry Erase helmet (above) and their Tony Hawk Multi-Purpose helmets in Jan. 2023. See full recall details in the report HERE.
