Reba McEntire keeps busy. Just in the last year she’s released her book, Not That Fancy, along with an album of the same name, took over the reins from Blake Shelton as a judge on The Voice, and now she’s preparing to perform at the Super Bowl. But that’s simply not all. The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting something fans of the beloved sitcom from the early aughts, Reba, have been longing to hear.

Per THR, McEntire may soon be returning to NBC. The network has ordered a comedy pilot starring the country superstar. The show does not currently have a name but will be a multi-camera series with a script written by Kevin Abbott who also served as showrunner for  the WB/CW hit Reba.

The plot so far for the series is described as a woman (McEntire) inherits her father’s restaurant but she then learns that her business partner is the half-sister she never knew existed. Could we speak it into existence that Melissa Peterman is cast as the long lost sister? The two are real life friends and also played sisters in Lifetime’s The Hammer.

Abbott’s other credits in the land of TV sit-com include Last Man Standing, Roseanne, The Golden Girls, and Malibu Country.

This potential McEntire comedy is the first pilot NBC has ordered for the 2024 season as much was delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. McEntire has proven time and time again that she can do it all. From the Grand Ole Opry to Broadway, the Oklahoma native can do it all. We hope that her continuously busy schedule soon also includes filming a full season of this primetime comedy.

This is a developing story.
