How Reba McEntire Moved on After Her Divorce From Her Husband of 26 Years

While accepting her Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album, Reba McEntire said, "Our job in the entertainment business is to heal hearts." The sentiment has proven quite personal: Reba's music is exactly what helped the country star heal after her divorce from ex-husband Narvel Blackstock in 2015.

The singer and producer share a son, Shelby Blackstock, and were married 26 years before they split. As Reba has openly discussed, the breakup was not her idea.

"It was really hard to make the adjustment when someone's not happy," she said in an interview with CMT. "I just want everybody to be happy in their lives, because our lives are too short to be miserable … I just thought it was the best thing to take my marbles and go play somewhere else, is what daddy used to always say."

Somewhere else turned out to mean someone else. The CMAs host started dating Anthony Lasuzzo in 2017. The two met in Jackson Hole, WY, when Anthony, a businessman and photographer, played tour guide for Reba after Kix and Barbara Brooks introduced them.

“[They said] we’ve got a friend who is a wildlife photographer, and he knows all the good places to go and he’ll drive you around,” Reba told CountryLiving.com in April. “And so he did, and we started dating about a month or two after that."

Unfortunately, Reba revealed in November 2019 that she and Skeeter split that May. “We still talk and we’re friends, but just decided to go our separate ways,” she told Us Weekly.

Reba may be back on the market, but we don't think she'd do anything differently. We'd guess that's particularly true with Narvel since they have such an iconic family who includes Shelby and Reba's stepson, Brandon, who happens to be married to Kelly Clarkson. Thankfully, the breakup hasn't affected Reba and Kelly's relationship.

"Kelly and I got to tour together in 2008, it was one of the most exciting, fun tours I've ever been a part of," Reba said on The Talk. "You know, I love her to pieces. She's been one of my best friends since I met her in 2002, now she's my daughter-in-law. She's a wonderful person, big-hearted, always full of joy and laughter."
