If you're as unabashedly nosy as some of us (hello, me!) are, you're probably curious about whether or not Princess Eugenie will be signing a prenup before her wedding to Jack Brooksbank on October 12.

The answer? Most likely not, for the same reasons that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are said to have not signed a prenup before their royal wedding. First of all, signing papers about what'll happen to your money after you divorce isn't the most romantic thing-but it's also not the most British thing.

"Historically, members of the royal family have not had them," royal author Ingrid Seward told People around the time of Meghan and Harry's wedding. "They are more popular in the United States-it’s just not a British thing."

But more significantly/weirdly, most of the royal assets (like property, for example!) belong to the royal family itself. In other words, the Queen literally holds the keys to the castle. Which, in this case, is Ivy Cottage inside Kensington Palace-where Eugenie and Jack live.

"You wouldn’t need a prenuptial agreement to stop Windsor Castle from being cut in half in the event they divorce," royal biographer Duncan Larcombe said around the time of Meghan and Harry's wedding.

That said, Eugenie specifically is one of the more independently wealthy royals-and is rumored to be worth over $4 million in private trust funds set up by the Queen Mother. It's possible she'll want to protect that money in the event of divorce, but even if she did, prenups don't carry the same legal weight in the U.K. as they do in the U.S. So why bother?
