Kate Middleton's kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—didn't visit the Princess of Wales throughout her 13-day stay at the private London Clinic following her "planned" abdominal surgery, and insiders are dishing their thoughts on the reason behind the move.

"I don't think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was. They’ll be rallying 'round in their own way and helping to look after her," royal biographer Ingrid Seward said to People of the decision.

Something else that could have attributed to the Princess of Wales' kids not visiting her, though? Safety protocol. Per the London Clinic's website, children and babies are generally not allowed to visit in order to keep infections at bay bc germs, obvi. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Additionally, "Any special requests for children to visit must be approved by the Matrons. If approved, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will look after them throughout the visit." Soooooo basically in the interest of keeping everyone safe and healthy, having Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis remain at home definitely seems to have been the right choice.

That said (!!), someone who *did* visit the Princess of Wales was her husband Prince William, who even canceled royal engagements to support Kate and be with their kids during her hospital stay. According to insiders, Wills looked after their little ones with longtime nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, and even helped with their school pickups and drop-offs.

A close family friend even revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales don’t have "a huge private staff," and "as a result, William is really hands-on." "He doesn’t want any mistakes made with the next generation. He wants to give them a proper upbringing and lots of love. That is foremost in his mind," they added. 🥺❤️

On January 29, Kate discreetly returned to Adelaide Cottage, and the whole family reunited.

"I’m sure she’s utterly exhausted, but she’ll recover well," Seward mused of Kate's post-op vibe. Additionally, Kensington Palace provided an update that read, in part, "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided."

Now all that's left is time for Kate to continue recovering at Adelaide Cottage. "It does sound serious with the length of time [she’s taking]. But she is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back" a royal source recently revealed to People.

Sending Kate well wishes on her healing!
