Matt James’s season of The Bachelor hasn’t even ended yet, but we are officially up to our eyeballs with info about the upcoming season of The Bachelorette...and beyond, it seems! In a recent spoiler post, the all-knowing Reality Steve hinted at a major Bachelorette twist. And today, we know exactly what it is, and it’s never been done before in the Bachelor franchise’s history. *Taylor Swift voice* Are you ready for it?

🚨 BUT FIRST: Please be advised, there are MAJOR spoilers ahead for The Bachelorette. If you wish to protect your brain from unwanted information, now is the time to run! 🚨

For starters, there will be TWO back-to-back seasons of The Bachelorette—instead of doing a season of The Bachelor right after Bachelor in Paradise, Reality Steve revealed that ABC is choosing to go with The Bachelorette twice in a row, which is v uncommon. And on top of that, we already know who the second lead is!

Our next Bachelorette after Katie Thurston is...Michelle Young!

Here’s the timeline of events, according to Reality Steve:

“Katie will get her own full season of ‘The Bachelorette’ that begins taping at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya in New Mexico in a few weeks.

“‘Bachelor in Paradise’ will film per usual in June at a location that hasn’t been announced yet and will begin airing after Katie’s season is done airing, per usual.

“Michelle’s ‘Bachelorette’ season will film sometime after ‘BIP’ films (most likely all of July) and air later on in the fall.”

For a while, the production team was apparently going back and forth over who they wanted as the Bachelorette after choosing Katie as their lead. It’s possible that Michelle was a top contender for the spot, but something got in the way, which Steve also addressed in his spoiler article:

“I’m sure some are asking, ‘If they wanted Michelle, why didn’t they just give her the season about to be filmed? Why have Katie as the Bachelorette up first?’”

“The reason is that Michelle did not want to leave her class again to start filming in a few weeks (meaning she’d miss most of the remainder of her school year), hence the reason she is getting her own season this summer when she’s out of school. That’s the ‘twist’ or ‘curveball’ you’ll see announced on the ‘ATFR’ on Monday.”

Big news for the franchise! No word yet on why The Bachelor’s following season was pushed back, but something tells me that Reality Steve will deliver any and all relevant info when the time is right.
