Here’s The Real Reason Meghan Markle Hasn’t Been Wearing Her Engagement Ring

When Meghan Markle, 42, finally joined husband Prince Harry, 39, at the Invictus Games earlier this month, eagle-eyed fans noticed that she was still missing one very important piece of jewelry: her blinding custom three-stone engagement ring!

The Duchess of Sussex’s very noticeably ringless finger has been sending fans into a frenzy for quite a few months now, as she has been spotted without it from as far back as May. This has understandably made fans wonder whether there is any truth in the endless rumors that she and the Duke of Sussex are headed for divorce, which have plagued them for quite a few months now. However, after months of speculation as to why she hasn’t been wearing the dazzling piece of jewelry, People finally explained the real reason behind her not wearing it; and as with a lot of things that happen with celebs, it isn’t what it seems…

Why Wasn't Meghan Markle Wearing Her Engagement Ring?

According to People magazine, who we assume obtained their information from a royal insider, "Meghan's engagement ring is currently being serviced because a setting came loose." And it really might just be as simple as that!

Although the Duchess of Sussex was spotted without her engagement ring at the Invictus Games, she still wore her wedding ring as well as her eternity ring, which she has been wearing since 2019. This should further put an end to the speculation that she and the Duke of Sussex are having marital problems.

She also caused a similar stir last month when the Highbrow Hippie Instagram account shared a picture of Meghan dining with friends Kadi Lee (co-founder of the conscious lifestyle brand) and poet Cleo Wade, with her engagement ring again, nowhere in sight. At least we now have the real reason for its absence!

Such an intricate engagement ring, which Prince Harry designed with the help of the late Queen Elizabeth II's jeweler, Cleave & Company, may require a little more TLC than regular pieces of jewelry, which could perhaps be why it is taking so long to fix.

The one-of-a-kind ring features a large cushion-cut center diamond sourced from Botswana (which is very close to both Prince Harry and Meghan's hearts, and is where they got to know each other at the start of their relationship) as well as two side stones from the late Princess Diana's jewelry collection.

"The ring is obviously yellow gold because that's [Meghan's] favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewelry collection, to make sure that she's with us on this crazy journey together," Prince Harry explained when they first got engaged.

Meghan also added at the time: "Everything about Harry's thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [Princess Diana's stones] and obviously not being able to meet his mom, it's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us. It's incredibly special to be able to have this [ring], which sort of links where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us. It's perfect."

Although she seemed elated with the design, she did change it ever-so-slightly two years later, as she replaced the ring's original gold band with a thin micro-pavé band, which you can check out here.
