One of the area's most popular foodie events returns Sunday as the "Taste of Ormond" offers tasty samples of dishes from highly touted local restaurants at Rockefeller Gardens along the Halifax River in Ormond Beach.

It features fare from two dozen of Ormond Beach’s most popular restaurants, along with an array of locally created craft beers and wine. Ticket holders may sample an unlimited number of dishes, with no additional charge.

Beverage distributor S.R. Perrott will offer a tasting area with wines and craft beers and each table also receives two bottles of wine to share. Additional wine and beer is available for sale.

Tickets are $75 per person, with VIP seating available for $85 per person. Tables seat up to 10 and can be purchased for $700 for regular seating or $800 for a VIP table. The event also will feature live music and a charity raffle.

It runs from 4-7 p.m.

In DeLand, cruise among classic cars

Classic cars will be in the spotlight on Saturday at the monthly Downtown DeLand Cruise along Alabama and Indiana avenues in the bustling downtown business district along Woodland Boulevard.

Open to all years, makes and models, the car gathering is sponsored by the DeLand Area Cruisers Car Club. Along with the automotive bling, there will be music from DJ Rockin’ Rich, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and presentation of the event’s monthly Cruiser Award.

More family fun in DeLand

Cars aren’t the only focus of family-friendly events on Saturday in DeLand.

The Museum of Art – DeLand will host its “Family Fun Saturday” at each of the museum’s downtown DeLand locations at 100 and 600 N. Woodland Blvd.

During the event, all visitors will enjoy free admission to all exhibits and galleries.

There will be free hands-on art activities for children at the museum’s 600 N. Woodland Blvd. location from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Parents, please note that kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Museum hours at 100 N. Woodland Blvd., next to the New York Avenue intersection, are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Get scared by 'Jaws' at MOAS

As part of its summer Megalodon exhibit, the Museum of Arts & Sciences will offer two showings of the most frightening shark movie ever made: “Jaws.”

The 1975 thriller, starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, will be shown at 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday in the Lowell and Nancy Lohman Family Planetarium at 325 S. Nova Road in Daytona Beach.

Admission is $12 for museum members, $14 for non-members, with advance purchase online at the museum’s website, moas.org, recommended.

The movie tickets include access to the museum’s Megalodon exhibit for an hour preceding each screening. Be advised, parents, that “Jaws” is rated PG and unfolds with enough scary scenes to give even some adults nightmares.

In Flagler County, plants for sale

Flagler County Master Gardeners will host the organization’s annual plant sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the UF IFAS Extension Flagler County headquarters at the Flagler County Recreation Area, 650 County Road 13 in Bunnell.

There will be vegetables, fruit trees, landscape plants and flowers for sale as part of an event that also includes educational presentations on how to care for potential purchases. Free admission.
