On Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are hopping back in their sleigh for another fun-filled Christmas movie.
Netflix announced today that the longtime couple will return for a sequel to The Christmas Chronicles next holiday season. In celebration of the news, the streaming platform also released a brand-new first-look photo of the couple all done up in their Santa and Mrs. Claus attire, which you can see above. They look just as festive as ever, if we do say so ourselves.
In the forthcoming Netflix original, aptly titled The Christmas Chronicles 2, Kate Pierce (Darby Camp) is now a cynical teenager who’s unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus (Russell) when a troublemaker named Belsnickel (Julian Dennison) threatens to destroy the joy of Christmas forever. Yikes.
Kimberly Williams Paisley (Claire) and Judah Lewis (Teddy) will also return for the sequel, along with some unfamiliar faces, like Jahzir Bruno as a new character named Jack.
So will this Christmas movie be as good as the last? Probably. Matt Lieberman, who wrote the original, teamed up with Christopher Columbus (no, not that one. The one who wrote Christmas with the Kranks and directed several Harry Potter movies) for this iteration. Columbus will direct the movie, as well as produce alongside Mark Radcliffe and Michael Barnathan, who both produced the first movie, The Help and much more.
The Christmas Chronicles 2 hits Netflix during the holiday season of 2020. And while we kinda wish it was dropping this year, it’s always nice to have something to look forward to.
We’ll see you next Christmas, Goldie and Kurt.
