Get Ready: T he Final Season of ‘Stranger Things’ Will Feature a Time Jump

With Stranger Things 4 only partially released, some fans have been starting to wonder what the fifth and final season will look like. You may recall the Duffer Brothers confirmed in an open letter to fans back in February that next season will be the show’s last. So, what does that entail? Matt and Ross Duffer recently gave some insight into their thought process and are considering *yet another* time jump into the future.

In an interview with TVLine, the show’s creators revealed the final season is already “mapped out.” But, given how nothing is set in stone, the narrative is bound to change in the draft period.

“We learn a lot every time we make a [season],” Matt said. “We’ve learned a lot just working with all of our new actors and the ones that we’ve worked with for a long time over this year [making Season 4], so I’m sure it’ll change a little bit from that outline.”

He added, “The ending is the hard thing. That’s obviously the stressful thing. We really want to stick the landing.”

While taking the actors’ ages into account, Matt and Ross are thinking about doing another time jump in the final season. “I’m sure we will do a time jump,” Ross explained. “Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that.”

At the beginning of Stranger Things, we were first introduced to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) in middle school. But, given the amount of time it took to completely shoot the fourth season, the writers chose to do a slight time jump and have our favorite group of friends transition to high school.

We’ll just be counting down the days until Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2.
