Calling all Fixer Upper fans: Chip and Joanna Gaines are officially bringing their Magnolia touch to the hospitality world. The design duo just announced they're renovating a hotel in (where else?) downtown Waco, Texas, headquarters of their retail empire. Even better? We'll get to see the whole project play out on the small screen. "A new season of Fixer Upper is coming this fall and it’s one of [Joanna] and [Chip's] most exciting projects yet: A boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Waco, TX," the couple wrote on their Magnolia Instagram account.
While the hotel doesn't officially open until October, a new trailer promises this will be the "biggest fixer upper ever." (And that's saying something since they recently renovated a castle.)
"When you think about a 50,000-square-foot hotel remodel, this is the big leagues," Chip said in the trailer. "This is what you dream about, and I think Jo and I are out of our element to some extent, but I think we're up for the challenge."
So what do we know about the project? Called Hotel 1928, the accommodations will be located in a large building that dates back to (you guessed it) 1928. According to its website, the hotel is set to have 33 guest rooms, three food and beverage outlets, and 6,600 square feet of event and meeting space. Since Waco has limited lodging options, Hotel 1928 will be a godsend for anyone who wants to book a trip to the Texan town.
While the brick-clad building epitomizes early twentieth-century Moorish Revival-style architecture, we have a sneaking suspicion the inside will ooze the couple's signature modern farmhouse aesthetic.
Once you check into your room—and, of course, snap a few selfies—you'll have plenty to do in Waco. Not only has Magnolia opened a bunch of stores and restaurants to peruse, but Hotel 1928 is also steps away from where Chip and Joanna's empire all began. (Yes, we're talking about the Silos.) Whether you plan to stream the entire show in one setting or check out Hotel 1928 in-person, it's safe to say fall couldn't come any sooner!
