Hollywood said farewell to a legendary producer this week. Norman Lear was known for creating some of the most popular 1970s TV sitcoms, including All in the Family, The Jeffersons, and Maude. He died of natural causes in his Los Angeles home on December 6.

In addition to work in TV, Norman produced a number of popular films in the late 1980s, such as Fried Green Tomatoes and The Princess Bride—a classic movie loved by many!

At the age of 101, Lear cemented his status as a pioneer in the industry, and to say he had an impact on many would be an understatement.

Numerous celebrities paid tribute to the Hollywood icon on social media following his passing. The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes, who worked with Norman on the film—was one of them. You might remember Cary as playing Westley, the main protagonist of the cult-classic film who falls in love with Buttercup. Cary shared two sweet photos of himself and Norman kissing each other on the cheek with a heartfelt caption.

"I am heartbroken 💔 We’ve lost a titan who didn’t just change TV but changed my life forever with @theprincessbridemovie," Cary wrote. "His sweetness, humor & intelligence will never be matched. Our deepest condolences to Lyn, his family & friends. Rest in power, Norman."

One fan commented on Cary's page, "Legend! What a life!! Norman is on to 'Next' as he famously all said."

We'd like to believe that too. Sending our love to Norman's family and fans.
