Raven-Symoné Shares She Had a Seizure as a Teen Following Cosmetic Surgery

Raven-Symoné is discussing some disheartening aspects of growing up in the spotlight.
In a recent podcast episode, the That's So Raven and Raven's Home star discussed struggling with body image growing up, which led her to undergo plastic surgery as an adolescent.
“I had two breast reductions and lipo[suction] before I turned 18,” the former Disney Channel actress said during the fifth episode of The Best Podcast Ever with Raven and Miranda, which she co-hosts with her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday.
To make matters worse, the now-37-year-old also suffered a seizure following her first procedure. "And I remember waking up and seeing everything... I started having this dry mouth and couldn’t breathe and went back under, and they were like, 'You have a seizure,'" she recalled of the harrowing ordeal.
The episode, released in full on Monday, Aug. 7, also addressed the implications of receiving the cosmetic procedures at such a young age, and what led her to that point in the first place.
While explaining that body-shaming she experienced as a young TV star was a major contributing factor of what prompted her decision, she also claimed that her father, Christopher Pearman, was in support of the surgeries. "There was paperwork involved. My dad suggested strongly that I should get my breasts reduced. He was like, 'So you don’t feel bad, is there anything that you want?' I was like, 'Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?' So I got a two-fer."
In hindsight, she admitted that the entire situation "was just a mess—just being that young and the pain of it all," and further, that it didn't stop the bullying. "You get that done and it's still not what everybody wanted to see," she noted.
