  • Star Ashton Kutcher announced the series is ending.

  • There will be 20 final episodes that will air in 2019 and 2020.

In the worst news you’ll hear all day, The Ranch is officially ending after four seasons.

The Netflix original series stars Ashton Kutcher, Debra Winger, and Sam Elliott, and has been airing new episodes since 2016. Ashton announced the news on Twitter, and the streaming site confirmed the update to Deadline.

“[The Ranch] is coming to an end, but not just yet. We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes - 10 streaming later this year (2019) on [Netflix], and then 10 more in 2020,” he wrote. “Stay tuned!”

The silver lining is that we don’t have to say goodbye to the Bennetts right away. But we’re crushed that the funny fictional family, particularly the smooth-voiced Sam, won’t be airing any more installments after next year.

Fans were devastated after Ashton posted his tweet, writing “this is depressing” and “Why do all the good shows have to go?” Some threatened to get rid of their Netflix accounts all together.

Others were not as shocked that The Ranch is coming to a close, as there was a major cast shakeup when Danny Masterson’s character, Rooster, was written off the show amid sexual assault allegations. Rooster’s void was later filled with Dax Shepard, who played Luke starting in 2018.

Though many will miss the hilarious highs and lows that come with the Bennett family business, at least there are still 20 more episode to look forward to over the next year. Fingers-crossed we’ll get to see Last Man Standing star Molly McCook appear as Darlene one last time.
