It's been a little over a year and a half since New York luxury’s MVP played a home game, but Ralph Lauren returned to the fashion week calendar on Friday night with enough star power to light up Flushing Meadows.

Jennifer Lopez, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, and the queen of the TikTokracy herself, T&C cover star Sofia Richie Grainge witnessed a spring 2024 collection itself paraded by megawatt models, including Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova. Judging by the expression on Keaton's face during the finale, celebrities will lap up Lauren's haute-on-the-ranch lineup.

Lauren's last outing in New York City took place at the Museum of Modern Art, where he reconstructed his Fifth Avenue apartment, the one lavishly featured in his upcoming Rizzoli book, Ralph Lauren: A Way of Living. That collection saw Lauren playing chairman of the board, proposing smart tailoring and slinky eveningwear for a night on the town, whether at Polo Bar or Yankee stadium; notably, Major League Baseball-branded varsity jackets and baseball hats were part of the mix.

This time around Lauren took the team out to the ranch, RRL Ranch to be precise, as staged from the ground up inside Building 293 of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. It was a classic Lauren pastiche of, well, town and country, heavily worked denim giving way to jewel-tone gowns, blazers and swanky accessories that pitter-pattered on the runway. Care for a Canadian tuxedo? Imaan Hammam wore hers with belted cargo pants, a jean jacket, statement jewelry and the new RL 888 handbag to match. The denim portion of the collection in particular allowed Lauren to put his stamp on a popular trend that he has arguably done more to elevate than anyone. Here he embroidered, bedazzled, dyed, ripped, and faded the material, playing with more treatments than there are martinis on the Polo Bar menu.

Where rustic meets fancy is a Lauren sweet spot, and the casual ease of the daywear nicely transitioned into an equally relaxed lineup for evening. Polos were paired with tulle skirts, harem pants with those Pony-branded baseball caps beloved by off-duty Taylor Swift. Consider the closing look, a liquid gold floor-length looker featuring a cape and cold shoulder. As modeled by Turlington, it was a master class in quiet confidence, the image of a woman who doesn't have to try hard to turn heads because she knows all eyes will be on her anyway. You can easily imagine a J.Lo in a similar number, sauntering into a sumptuous steak-and-fries dinner much like the one that greeted guests behind the runway last night, and waiting for the compliments to pour in.
