Rainbow Cone to open Wicker Park location

CHICAGO — Rainbow Cone is having a moment.

And why shouldn’t it. Next weekend is Memorial Day Weekend and some say the official kick off to summer. And what goes better with summer than ice cream?

And just about coinciding with the start of summer, Rainbow Cone will open a location in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood on May 28.

According to their website, the location will be at 1750 West Division.

Just last week, Rainbow Cone announced it was adding to it’s menu for the first time in nearly 100 years.

In addition to their well renowned five-flavor ice cream cone, fans of Rainbow Cone can now enjoy slices of Orange Dream, Chocolate Obsession, Minty City and Cosmic Birthday when visiting the ice cream shop. The Orange Dream offers a blend of orange sherbet and vanilla, while the Chocolate Obsession satisfies the cravings of chocolate lovers with double the chocolate. Minty City pays homage to the brand’s roots with a fresh mint chocolate chip flavor, and the Cosmic Birthday is a “smile-sparking stack” of Superman and birthday cake ice cream slices.

And the WGN Morning News got in on the action Thursday morning when Dean Richard’s visited to get the *scoop* – see what we did there? – on the new flavors. You can see some of that visit in the video player above.

Other locations within the city of Chicago include kiosks at 162 East Superior Street and Navy Pier, the original location at 9233 South Western Ave. More locations here.
