MANITOWOC – Rahr-West Art Museum has made a call for art for the 2024 Museum Members and Manitowoc County Artist Exhibit.

The exhibit will run Aug. 18 to Sept. 15. It is an open, biennial exhibit featuring the work of local artists. A public opening reception will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 18. Awards will include Artists’ Choice and Viewers' Choice.

To exhibit in the show, artists must be at least 18 years old, and either be a member of Rahr-West or a resident of Manitowoc County.

The prospectus for the exhibit can be found on the museum website, rahrwestartmuseum.org, or at the museum’s front desk.

The museum is at 610 N. Eighth St. and can be contacted at 920-686-3090. Admission to the museum is free.

Two Rivers Farmers’/Crafters’ Market season begins May 18

The new season for the Two Rivers Farmers’/Crafters’ Market will begin May 18.

The market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. (as well as on Thursday evenings) through the end of October. The market is in Central Park East near 17th and Washington streets across the street from Schroeder’s and near City Hall and the fountain.

Among the items for sale will be eggs, honey, plants, jellies and jams, salsa, and other canned goods, as well as crafts.

Crafts for sale will include jewelry, soy candles, fleece blankets, macramé items such as dog leashes and plant hangers.

Knitted items will include slippers, scarves, hats, mittens, catnip mice, scrubbies, dishcloths, potholders,  hotpads, etc.

Fresh vegetables and fruits will be available as the season progresses.

Anyone interested in being a vendor should contact the Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department at 920-793-5592 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.

Two Rivers gym to hold free Murph Workout/Challenge

Brian Gallagher, owner of Darkside Strength in Two Rivers, will host a free Murph Workout/Challenge at 10 a.m. May 26 at his gym at 1010 34th St., Unit C3, in Two Rivers.

The Murph Workout is in honor of Lt. Michael Murphy, a Medal of Honor recipient, as well as to honor those who lost their lives in active duty.

Lt. Murphy was a Navy Seal killed during Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005, in Afghanistan. The annual Murph Workout/Challenge began in 2007 in his honor and is held throughout the nation over the Memorial Day weekend.

This is a crossfit workout that begins with a 1-mile run, followed by 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 body squats and concludes with another 1-mile run with a 20-pound vest.
