Danica Patrick has always been on top of her game. The former race car driver is the only woman to have won an IndyCar race, and while she officially retired from racing in 2018, Patrick’s schedule has far from slowed down. Nowadays, she serves as a Sky Sports F1 Commentator, for which she travels at least four times a month. She also hosts her weekly “Pretty Intense” podcast, designs luxury candles, owns a wine brand, and has a successful clothing line—Warrior by Danica Patrick.

Like the cars she used to race, Patrick's career is on warp-speed, and while her workout routine is frequent and consistent, she tells Women’s Health it’s also a bit of a break from the training she underwent when she was still racing professionally. “I lift weights for one hour three days a week and walk a lot,” she shares. It’s all part of her longevity-focused lifestyle, which also includes plenty of high-tech wellness and skincare treatments

Ahead, read all about Patrick’s partnership with VirtueRF, a microneedling device—and everything she does to keep her mind and skin on track.

Women's Health: What does your skincare routine look like?

Danica Patrick: I wash my face twice a day with Obagi’s Foaming Gel Cleanser—I like ones that aren’t gentle, I want to feel bubbles and like it’s really cleaning my face. In the morning, I use the iS Clinical Active Serum because I feel like it limits breakouts. For daytime, I’ll put on a tinted moisturizer with SPF and really like Chantecaille’s Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15. So I’ll do that and then use Chantecaille’s Stress Repair Concentrate + Eye Cream as it sits on my skin well and isn’t cakey.

Then I put on the Jojobae Face Serum from a company called The Daily Essential Co.—I feel like many lotions sit on top of the skin, which is why I love face oils, and this one absorbs well and has high moisture content.

WH: Does your routine change at night?

DP: Pretty much the only thing that changes is instead of using the iS Clinical product, I use tretinoin, a prescription retinoid, because it helps regenerate my skin and really helps with any kind of breakout. It’s even good for a spot treatment, to be honest. If you have something coming out, just put that on top of it and it really knocks it out. I also really love red light therapy—I use the JOOV red light—as it’s good for mitochondrial function and smoothing my skin out.

WH: What are some of the beauty items you travel with when you’re on-the-go?

DP: I swear by gua sha, I think lymphatic drainage is so important. I use the Wildling Empress Stone at home and take the Empress Platinum stainless steel one for travel so it doesn’t break. And I travel so much that I have a skincare kit I never unpack and always take with me.

WH: And what do you use for makeup?

DP: I use Make Up For Ever—I love their powders. I also use a little NARS, especially their Radiant Creamy Concealer. And I use the Chantecaille Philanthropy Cheek Shades.

WH: You’re very into high-tech skincare treatments. What are a few you love and why?

DP: I really like the Virtue RF microneedling system and Cool Peel. I’ve been taking care of my skin since I was in my 20s and I’ve evolved from using microdermabrasion to microneedling as it helps with long-term collagen regeneration and getting your youthful skin back. And Virtue RF delivers the needles in a gentler way when compared to other types of microneedling, so it’s great at stimulating collagen without any downtime.

Cool Peel is really good for evening out skin tone and smoothing it out—it’s more of your immediate help. I do those pretty much quarterly and usually pair them together.

WH: You also love high-tech wellness treatments. What’s one you’ve been loving recently?

DP: I love EBOO (extracorporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation). It’s basically like blood dialysis; there are two lines, one in each arm, and it pulls blood out, filters and ozonates it, then puts it back in the other arm.

The first couple of times I did it, my blood had so much oxidative stress that it was black, so we actually had to turn the ozone off and just do the filter. But by the last time, the color of my blood was a really nice and bright red. I really noticed a difference.

WH: And what does your daily wellness routine look like?

DP: I'm quite an introvert, so I love having alone time. So that's really good for recharging and rebalancing. And then I have a chunk of supplements that I take in the morning. I take glutathione, vitamin D, I take DHEA, probiotics, digestive enzymes from BIOptimizers, beta-alanine, and creatine.
