Rachel McAdams managed to avoid the spotlight for almost the entirety of her pregnancy, making her last public appearance at Toronto International Film Festival this past September and steering clear of the red carpet after giving birth until last night, when she arrived at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her and Rachel Weisz’s divisive new film, Disobedience.

The 39-year-old, who reportedly gave birth to a baby boy earlier this month, walked the carpet on Tuesday night at the Borough of Manhattan Community College Performing Arts Center. McAdams bore an unmistakable glow in a plunging (and sheer!) floral Giambattista Valli dress from the SS 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection. The new mom wore what appeared to be a black leotard beneath the voluminous gown. She kept the rest of her look simple: her sun-kissed locks bound in a loose up-do, a bold pop of pink coloring her lips, and a touch of bling framing her face with square-cut diamond Ana Khouri earrings.

McAdams’s co-star, Weisz, 48, who recently announced some baby news of her own (she and husband Daniel Craig are expecting their first child together), attended the premiere as well, showing off her burgeoning bump in a brown empire waist Chloé gown with textured sleeves and cutout detailing along the shoulders and chest.

The Oscar winner spoke with E! News about her recent pregnancy reveal, telling the source that she, Daniel, and their two children (from previous relationships) are “very excited” about the new addition to the family.

As for McAdams, Weisz assured reporters that her co-star is doing incredibly well since welcoming her first child. “I just saw her today. I haven’t seen her for a while, she is just glowing and looking ravishing and gorgeous. And she just seems to be so happy and I am just so happy for her! She had her first baby, it's so beautiful!” Weisz gushed.

Disobedience, which opens in theaters on April 27, tells a story of forbidden love between its two lesbian leads Ronit (Weisz) and Esti (McAdams), living in a strict Orthodox Jewish community.

In the film, McAdams and Weisz engage in what Entertainment Weekly has deemed “the best sex scene of the year,” and the cast tends to agree.

“There was energy to that scene that I haven’t experienced in any other sex scenes [with men] in my career,” McAdams told EW. “There was camaraderie to it. We both felt safe and free … All those things that you love about being a woman, you get to be with [in the scene], so I understand the attraction and appeal to that in a sexual context.”

“I’ve fictionally been in love with and told stories about being in love with many men, but it was about being in love with a woman,” Weisz said of playing a gay character. “I didn’t have to rearrange my DNA or anything. Esti was the woman that I loved.”

“Film’s a really good place to show desire in close-up,” she continued. “It’s all about our faces and you didn’t know where the other woman’s fingers, tongues, body, or head are. You couldn’t see where the other woman was. It wasn’t just on one woman’s face. I think it’s an emotional, passionate, almost spiritual love scene.”
