Netflix's Eurovision movie—full title: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Sagais a fictional wonderful and wacky look into the annual international song competition through the eyes of Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir (played by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams) as they represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

As you can expect, music is a huge part of the film, and both Farrell and McAdams showcase their pipes with some big tunes. Fans are curious about McAdams' voice in particular, so we did some digging to find out if she really sang in the film.

Is Rachel McAdams really singing in Netflix's Eurovision movie?

The answer is kind of complicated—McAdams is singing in most of the songs, but her voice was combined with the voice of Molly Sandén, a Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. Savan Kotecha, the movie’s music producer, told Vulture that having Sandén performed the tracks and McAdams also recorded the songs, and then the files were blended together by the film mixers. However, the song that McAdams sings when she's at the piano in the hotel room (the finale song "Husavik") is said to solely be her voice.

But in an interesting twist, it seems like Sandén is unconvinced about the blend of her and McAdams' voices. While Kotecha told Vanity Fair that "Sandén and McAdams's tones worked so well together that he had a hard time differentiating between the vocals," Sandén told VF that she was unsure if the vocals had actually been mixed. "If they say so, maybe that’s the truth. But I just know that I didn’t really hear [McAdams] in the soundtrack...maybe it’s mixed in somewhere," Sandén revealed.
