Rachel Lindsay Says She’s ‘Thrilled’ Tayshia Adams Is the New Bachelorette

Rachel Lindsay has some thoughts about the latest drama surrounding the upcoming season of The Bachelorette

Yesterday (August 3), sources confirmed to Glamour that Tayshia Adams—who appeared on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor as well as season six of Bachelor in Paradise—is replacing Clare Crawley on The Bachelorette. (Though Crawley will still be part of the season.)

The news sent shockwaves through the fandom. Something like this has never happened before! But drama aside, Adams is now the second Black BacheloretteLindsay was the first. And she’s thrilled to see another nonwhite Bachelorette join the ranks. “When I stepped in as Bachelorette, I wanted to pave a way for more diversity, for more people who look like me and who didn’t look like the typical lead,” she told Entertainment Tonight in a statement. “So to see another Bachelorette of color, I’m thrilled.”

“I have been fighting for inclusion, and I’ve said before that Tayshia would be an excellent Bachelorette, so I am more than happy to pass the torch,” she continued. “I am so excited to see what she’s going to do, how she will represent herself and her journey to find love. Now she’s in the driver’s seat, and I’m excited to see her get this opportunity.”

Underwood also weighed in on Adams’s big news. “Congrats @TayshiaAdams—good luck and I hope you find yourself a better kisser,” he tweeted. The joke is referring to a comment she made while appearing on Bachelor in Paradise. During an episode, Adams agreed with two other women who said Underwood wasn’t a great kisser. “Yeah, not gonna lie…but he got better by the end of the season.... I think I’m a good teacher,” she said. (Adams made it to the final three during Underwood’s Bachelor season before she and Hannah Godwin lost out to Cassie Randolph.)

As for Adams’s new batch of suitors, there’s still some mystery there too. “Tayshia was game and ready to go,” a source told People. “What remains to be seen is if more men will be brought in now to give Tayshia a full roster of suitors.”

Oh, the drama—this is going to be good! Fingers crossed Rachel Lindsay makes a cameo.
