Rachel Brosnahan Lands Major Role After 'Maisel' Ends

Just like her character on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan has a bright future ahead of her—only instead of it involving stand-up comedy, it involves a DC comic. After weeks of speculation, the actress has been cast as Lois Lane in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy. She'll play opposite David Corenswet as Clark Kent.

Gunn confirmed the news on Twitter, writing, "Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people)." According to Deadline, the casting decision came after months of audition tapes and in-person screen tests.
Although Brosnahan has yet to address the news, she did address casting rumors last month on The View, indicating that the part would be a dream role. "It would be extraordinary," she said. "I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist who is far from a damsel in destress. And I would jump at the chance if it arose."
Other actresses who have portrayed Lois Lane include Amy Adams and Joan Alexander. Meantime, Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill are among the ranks of actors who have played Superman.
Cavill confirmed in December that that he would be hanging up his cape for good. "The changing of the guard is something that happens," he shared on Instagram. "I respect that. James and [producer] Peter [Safran] have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes."
