Raccoon Turns Up at Philadelphia Airport Baggage Claim Leaving Passengers Stunned

Traveling can be hectic and stressful, even when everything goes to plan. There's a lot to do while navigating the airport, but even the waiting can get on someone's nerves. Don't get us started about traveling with pets!

For some travelers in Philadelphia, waiting for luggage was the most eventful part of the trip! Just as the baggage claim began moving, a surprise visitor popped out instead of a suitcase. The little raccoon was just as startled as all the passengers; take a look at the video from @6abcactionnews!

WTF? Where did that poor baby come from? As random and even funny as it is to see a raccoon in the airport, we can't help but wonder how the creature ended up at baggage claim. We sure hope it wasn't out on the tarmac before getting stuck on the conveyor!

Several commenters agree that the raccoon's presence at the airport could be a sign of a problem. One person mentioned that raccoons wouldn't go to a place so packed with people unless it was sick or starving; and in many cases, that's true. Rabies can be deadly, so it's smart to be mindful!

The Philidelphia International Airport sometimes sees raccoon visitors due to its close proximity to the Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. In fact, the airport has several humane traps for the critters around the property after another raccoon made headlines last year.

In the viral raccoon video, the animal can be seen popping out from an air vent and grabbing a package of Twizzlers. LOL! The hilarious incident allowed the airport to reevaluate all the small spaces where an animal can hide, though there's no way to prevent them from entering the airport altogether.

Fortunately, the raccoon featured in this video found its way out of the airport by itself. No one had to trap or guide the critter, and no injuries were reported. Hopefully this is the last time an animal gets caught on the baggage claim conveyor!
