[UPDATED] Quick Question: Does This Alleged Restaurant Thief Look Like Ross Geller to You?
If Facebook is good for anything, it's getting completely sidetracked from the matter at hand, which is exactly what happened when the Blackpool Police department in England posted security footage of a man who is wanted for questioning.
Apparently the police wanted to speak with the unidentified man about a restaurant robbery on September 20, but followers immediately noticed the suspect looked just like Dr. Ross Geller from Friends.
Here's the wanted guy:
And here's what everyone's fave Geller guy looks like these days:
Once people saw the resemblance, the hilarious comments immediately started rolling in. One woman wrote, "Shoplifting...It’s NOT that common. It DOESN’T happen to every guy, and it IS A BIG DEAL!!!" And someone else commented, "I don't think it's been this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year...."
To be totally clear, the police confirmed that Schwimmer was not in England when the robbery went down. The police even joined in on the fun with this punny statement:
Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We're so sorry it has to be this way.
There's no word on whether Schwimmer was hanging out with ugly naked guy in September, but surely he isn't sorry he was far away from this incident.
Update 4:40: Schwimmer confirmed that he was NOT with ugly naked guy in a playful video of him grabbing some drinks from his local New York City grocery store.

Update 11/13: On Monday night, British police arrested a suspected thief who could be the Schwimmer lookalike. The police tweeted a thank you to everyone who helped them with the case and gave a special shout out to Schwimmer, too!
Following the appeal we posted looking for a man who resembles a well-known actor, we now have an update. Thanks to our colleagues @MetPoliceUK, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall last night on suspicion of theft. Thank you for the support, especially @DavidSchwimmer! pic.twitter.com/nOgF1KQb0X
