All nine episodes of Stranger Things 4 are officially, finally out on Netflix, and TBH, we still have not emotionally recovered from all the drama, adventure, and heartache that occurred. As the Duffer Brothers have done before in the killings of fan-favorite characters like Barb and Bob the Brain, we lost Eddie Munson to a vicious demobat attack in the Upside Down, as he tried to buy more time for Nancy, Robin, and Steve in their hunt for Vecna. Meanwhile, Max remains in a coma after Eleven brought her back to life — however, whether or not she wakes up is unknown.

In the closing scene of the finale episode, everyone is reunited in Hawkins. But we left the crew on a massive cliffhanger. Although Eleven saved Max, her brief death counts as Vecna’s fourth killing, tearing Hawkins along four giant fault lines and opening a *massive* gate to the Upside Down. The fate of the small town and everyone in it — including Hop, Joyce, Will, Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Max, Dustin, Steve, Robin, Nancy, Jonathan, and the rest of the crew — hangs in the balance as we impatiently wait for season five of Stranger Things to debut. We don’t know when exactly the final chapter (😭) will be released, but in the meantime, we of course can’t help but wonder what will happen next. Ahead, all of the questions we absolutely need answered in Stranger Things 5.

Will Max come out of her coma?

In the finale, Eleven “piggybacks” off of Max’s memories and attempts to save her from Vecna’s curse. Although Eleven is able to defeat the villain, Max succumbs to her injuries and dies in Lucas’s arms. But using her powers, El revives Max and brings her back to life. As it stands, Max is still in a coma and Lucas said she may never wake up.

Even Sadie Sink, the actress who portrays Max, doesn’t know how her storyline will pan out. “[The Duffer Brothers have] been very secretive about season five in general... I have no idea what’s coming in five and what that looks like,” she told Deadline in a July 4 interview. “Max’s storyline is very up in the air, ’cause obviously she’s in a coma and Eleven can’t find her in the void. So who knows where she is and what state she’s in.”

What happened to Dr. Owens?

When the U.S. military infiltrated the secret lab in Ruth, Nevada, Dr. Brenner handcuffs Dr. Owens after an argument. Dr. Owens wants to return Eleven to Hawkins, but Dr. Brenner wants her to stay. In the end, Dr. Brenner is presumably killed by the military, but we don’t see Dr. Owens for the rest of the season. So his fate is a little more unclear.

Will Jonathan discover what Steve said to Nancy?

In the final two episodes, Nancy finds herself in a bit of a love triangle with Jonathan and Steve. She and Jonathan — who have been dating long distance for some time — are clearly in a rough patch and admittedly, seem to be on the brink of a breakup. They reunite in Hawkins in the finale, but before this, Steve reveals to Nancy that, essentially, he wants to marry her and have six children.

“Remember the dream I told you about? About the Winnebago? About seeing the country with six lil’ nuggets? It’s all true. Every last word. But I left one part out. It’s the most important part. You’re there. You’ve always been there,” he says as they walk through the forest in the Upside Down. Whooooooo.

Will Vecna curse Will now that he’s returned to Hawkins?

Will tells Mike in episode nine that Vecna is not dead, he’s just weakened. “Now that I’m here in Hawkins, I can feel him. And he’s hurt. He’s hurting. But he’s still alive,” Will says. “It’s strange, knowing now who it was this whole time, but I can still remember what he thinks and how he thinks.”

While they’re in Hopper’s cabin in the woods, we also see Will touch the back of his neck — a gesture he makes when he feels the Mind Flayer near. Does this mean he’ll be Vecna’s next victim? Or is some part of the monster still living in Will?

What happened to Dmitri and Yuri?

It’s probably safe to guess that after saving Murray, Joyce, and Hop from the demogorgon arena in the prison, Dmitri (aka Enzo) and Yuri are still in Russia — albeit hiding from the KGB and prison wardens. But the last time we see them, they’re in the helicopter rescuing the trio, so it’s unclear how they fared after their final escape.

Will Eddie’s name be cleared?

I’ve said it once (OK, many times) and I’ll say it again: Justice for Eddie Munson. He dies in Dustin’s arms after a brutal demobat attack in the Upside Down, dying a hero for the town that made him out to be a demonic killer. There’s some speculation that Eddie could come back, maybe in a memory like Billy Hargrove did this past season. But we absolutely need confirmation that Eddie’s name will be cleared of murder, and that he will remembered for his passionate, good-natured, charismatic spirit.

What’s next for Robin and Vickie?

After bumping into each other while making PB&J sandwiches at the relief center, Vickie (Robin’s fellow bandmate and crush) reveals that she and her boyfriend have broken up and she’s now single. Nothing romantic happens in this scene between the two, but it certainly highlights their chemistry and sets up the possibility of a Robin-Vickie romance in the next season.

What about the Hawkins High jocks?

When the gates to the Upside Down cracked open, Jason fell victim to the chasms, his whole torso ripping in two. That confirmed the fate for the leader of the Hawkins jocks, who were (and might remain) determined to frame the Dungeons & Dragons crew as the killers of Chrissy, Fred, and Patrick. But it’s unclear what happened to the others, and if they’ll still try to go after Dustin, Lucas, Will, Mike, and the others in the final season.

Will Hawkins ever be the same?

Massive fault lines at the scenes of Vecna’s killings tear through Hawkins in the finale, creating a huge opening to the Upside Down. We see the town in a state of emergency when the California crew returns, and Hawkins High has been turned into a relief center. In the very final scene, snow-like particles begin to fall from the sky, grass and greenery begin to die and decay, and giant plumes of smoke rise from the gates of the Upside Down in Hawkins. El, Mike, Will, Nancy, Jonathan, Hop, and Joyce look on in terror.
